Anyone have a birth year Rolex? 1981?

I was born in 81...always thought it be cool to sport a watch for the same year you were born.

Anyone got a 1981 Rolex?

I don’t have a 81 watch because I wasn’t born that year but, I did buy a birth year 5513.

Ha, I'm '81 too and keep playing with the idea of a birthday year watch. Until I look at the prices from '80 to '82. Haven't done a ton of research but seems we were born in a desirable transition where everything seems $5k more expensive then before or after! At least for Subs/GMT/Explorers.

Ended up making more sense to buy a new ND Sub. ;)

I’ve recently picked up a Rootbeer GMT that I’ve wanted for a while and too wanted it to be a birth year watch (1981). For me I’ve always loved the original Rootbeer and have been keeping an eye for the last couple of years for the right example and eventually found one with all original contents, box and most importantly for me the original papers.

I looked at Subs too as I wanted something to be around the 40mm case size and they varied in price for the right example but I’ve always had a thing for the GMT line so this was the perfect one!

Hope you gets yours sorted and key thing I guess is to stay patient (I’m normally not one for doing so!) but you’ll know when it’s the right watch to get!

Not thought about it really but would probably get an 16800 Sub, I believe those were made 1981. The Steve McQueen ExpII was also made that year? But you are right very expensive..

GORGEOUS vintage RootBeer, 365DAS. I'd love an R-serial ('88) TT Submariner. Maybe one day I'll come across one.

We are born on the same year!!!

Before I bought my D500, I was looking a 5513 from the early 80s but couldn’t find one.

I don't want a birth year watch. That was too long ago and finding a new-looking model is impossible, unless I'm prepared to spend incredible money. And I'm not. I prefer newer and more modern anyway.

I've never cared about my birthday. It always seemed silly to celebrate myself on an annual basis. I don't age one year at a time. It's a day-by-day thing. I was over my birthday since about age 12. Yeah, I'm weird like that I guess.
