Thanks for that update - my experience has been only in the US. I had 4 Rolexes on the theft register with Rolex USA. Fortunately the thief was caught - but only one Rolex was in his possession.

So I worked with RUSA to remove it from the registry and had the RSC fully restore it. Glad you were able to work behind the scenes to clear up the OP’s GMT. Very good spirit of TRF on your part

Excellent outcome. My faith in mankind has moved up three notches on my speed dial. Can't say that I would measure up to some of the men in this thread.

First post on forum

My first post here and I am most impressed by actions of OP and HM. Well done. I will also say that I was impressed by the Comex posts by HM and in general all the Rolex knowledge shared so freely on the Forum.
I currently own a kermit mark1 (if I have the vernacular down correctly) that I purchased in April 2004. I have owned a 1954 gold oyster date and a 2000 Submariner no date. Both were sold in support of my kids education.
But like many here I have always been fascinated by wristwatches and specifically Rolex. And I am happy to come aboard and will do my best to live up to the example set by this post. My day to day watch is a 1995 SS Tag quartz.

I think we'd all like to see a picture of your 16610 LV - and respect those who can find a better balance of priorities than some of us!

Welcome to the forum and thankyou for kind words. Many here do greater things.

It's a shame to recase a perfectly good GMT for what are essentially scratches under the endlink. Perhaps because of the exceptional circumstances Rolex may be able to re-etch it? It doesn't seem too deep.

Great Read! If it were mine I'd probably spring for a replacement mid case and a full service.
It would make me feel more like it was 'my' watch at that point.

Update: with the kind help from Haywood Milton who kindly sent the watch to Rolex they ( Rolex) authenticated the watch as genuine although they would not work on the watch as they call it a modified watch i now have a watch with paper work to show it's genuine plus i also have the original serial number plus it is clean meaning NO one has a claim against it great result all round none of this would have been possible if it had not been for Haywood who me I cannot thank enough

All chronometer rated movements have serial numbers. Otherwise there’s no way to tell them apart when you have a thousand of them being tested!

But I do no know of any database with movement serial numbers so only Rolex would know.

I am pretty good with deciphering but they really did a good job with the serial number
