Panerai 312 or 233??? Just received 312...

Members,

Yesterday, I have received Brand New 312 that I ordered for my father. He has always wanted Panerai 233 but at the moment I could not afford to purchase 233 so I got him the 312...

He liked the 312 as well, but he couldnt get over 233 for some reason...

to me they both look the same except for the PR dial on 233...

I am thinking about saving up more money and get him what he originally wanted....

or should I just give him 312??? It was already hard for me to save money to buy 312...

not sure what to do at the moment...

Hello David...
My advice is don't push yourself for purchase 233 if that's burden you.
I believe your Father will love 312.
312 is perfect watch, so you don't need to buy him 233 for this moment.
Maybe someday if you already afford (I know you can) to buy one, you can flip the 312 and replace it with 233.
You're a GREAT son, your Old Man will be proud.

Thank you...

I saw a slightly used 98% 233 recently sold on Ebay for $8100. so that is only $700 more than 312... so I was going to add bit more and try to get him what he wanted originally...

David you're a great son! the 312 will make your father proud and happy because is coming from his son. Just let me tell you a personal story, a couple of years ago my kids bought me a watch and now every time I look at it makes me very proud and happy.

The 312 is a great watch too congratulations to you and your dad and welcome to the wonderful world of Panerai!!

Great advise by TR maybe one day you can flip the 312 for a 233!!

it's the thought that counts. I'm sure your dad will be pleased with either.

David you are a great son.

However, if you decide to give him 233 instead and don't know what to do with that 312, I am here for you brother.

David...
8300 is an amazing unheard of price for a 233... but in your case.. the watch is not important... the fact that you are geeting your old man a PAM will be overwhelming for him.. i am sure... he will be over the moon... i would be.. and the 312 is a very good looking pam... inhouse mvmt too... a great watch indeed...
do not burden your self.. he will not be disapointed.. i am sure he will be overjoyced...

keep us posted on his reaction.. (hope my kids grow up to be as thoughful as you are)

Give your dad the 312, tell him that you plan to swap it in a few months for a 233, then see if he bonds with it, the reason i say this is a lot of people don't really like a watch until they wear it for a while, so you might find out he likes the 312 and wants to keep it in the end.

If he doesn't then just stick an ad on paneristi and here for a swap, you might end up having to pay a couple of grand but at least you've tried and used the 312

Thank you all for your kindness. I am sure my father will be very happy but it is me who wanted to get him what he wanted for long time... thats all... I am still searching for 233 and trying to see if I can sell my 312 for decent price... or trade will be better....
