I like the textured blue dial, big day and date. If the lange boutique allows me to place an order, I will buy it without hesitation.

I do like it too (love the movement and the day/date function). Except...another blue dial? Also not too sure about the bracelet - a nice rubber strap would be cool!

I do have a VC Overseas on preorder for less than half that price....

Despite the blue dial being around for a long time, it will signify the 2010’s like bell bottoms in the 70s.

Not one of those pieces would I want except maybe the AP to replace 5711. Could it both were designed by the same master designer? Subtle elegance nice imo. :-)

Dial color aside, the nautilus, royal oak, and overseas have the best designs imo. Not convinced on any of the others. The new Odysseus - well it rhymes with hideous. It’s just a huge miss. Cheers!

I don't dislike it, but I find it pretty boring, there's no signature element. But the chart above really highlights the difficulty of entering this space. You have have a tight set of design criteria and you have to stand out.

I will try to see it in person, but like Ninja, I think I'd rather have a used Dato.

It’s like Lange management told the design team, “do whatever you want so long as it’s stainless steel, has a blue dial, and an integrated bracelet.” They had an opportunity to do something new and special and were not up to the task.

Was just thinking since this was said to me yesterday by a co-worker....(his friend told him this and his friend is a co-founder of one of these sites)...

Does anyone else think watch blogs/Instagram is anything other than a pump and dump... kind of like what people use to do with penny stocks back in the day?

Not sure why, I always tend to love marmite watches.

Loved the 40th 5711 from day one.

Disappointed in the ALS. It doesn't punch in its price range. Reminds me of a Seamaster missing it's bezel.

Hopefully you’ll get an early production piece, which starts rolling out next month.

I think the bracelet adjustment is clever and the pushers pretty neat and movement drop dead gorgeous. Would I have this over the Jurgesen ....maybe not!

I'm sure it plays a role. The only question would be who is really behind it? It would have to be people who could get a lot of inventory before a watch is "hot" and then promote it enough to make the value shoot up so that they can sell. So some coordination between ADs, greys/TSs, and "influencers" could certainly be happening.

What, like the big date, which is a typical Lange characteristic?

Coworker is friends with one of the guys from one of the big magazines. They connected and he explained to my co worker that

They write about watches with a positive bias...
Then sell those watches on their website
Then create buzz so demand is high
So that the price goes higher
Then rinse and repeat.

Coworker is not a watch guy. He’s a business guy...

Would not surprise me. Look at the almost overwhelming positive reaction of the blogs to the Lange sports watch. Even the Code 11:59 was widely praised. These magazines and blogs are only worthwhile for photos.

I meant a new element for the Odysseus line, and it's meant to be a line of watches rather than a one off piece. Sure it's got the big date from the Lange 1 and a seconds sub-dial which looks so similar to the one from the Zeitwerk. Is the day complication going to be its 'thing'?

Not for the other lines, no. The day wheel integration is purely for the Odysseus, and possibly solely for the Datomatic here.
Will be interesting to see if they extend the line into AC or PC territory – they might just have their hands full enough with dial colour variation, and presumably a Dual Time and Chronograph to flesh out the line.

My earlier comment about the ADs not getting Odysseus until April is in relation to Basel World – we could see the full(er) range introduced then, which means ADs get more to offer their customers than just this one model.
