Bizarre comparison frankly. The AP is a novelty, a collectible beautiful thing that is a work of art. The Patek is a watch you can wear daily, it’s a purpose built thing. No comparison for me, but it’s your dime pal.

I'd say keep the Nautilus. It's about 200g! It's a heavy little piece.

Wouldn’t say I didn’t like it, I’ll be honest it wasn’t as nice as I had hoped but still a lovely piece none the less! My main issue was it’s design pushed it away from the reason I was looking at the Nautilus line, where the 5711/12 are nice and slim pieces which hug the wrist the 5990 is a big step away from this. Think it was Tyler who mentioned it was like the PP equivalent of the ROO Vs the RO, resulting in the 5990 being in the position to compete with my 15407 which it would never win so as nice as it is there’s not a position for it in the watch box for it. Out out all my watches it wasn’t until I had the 15407 I realised what a true grail piece can do to how you want and wear a watch, where as before regardless of the incoming be it the Daytona or 5167 I was always straight onto the next piece for my collection were as now I’m finding it hard to find a piece that I actually want as I keep going back to the 15407. To the point the 15407 is on my wrist 80-90% if the time. |

I noticed today that on the seconds hand on one side about a tenth the way in from the edge of the dial it has a purple dot is that meant to be there? It’s too small to get a photo

Month it was made?
As far as I’m aware there’s no way to find that info, AP will know from the serial number but it’s not in the public domain. Anyway regardless of actually production day it will have a 5 year warranty from date of original sale/registration I’m assuming you have all the paperwork as it will be in with that? Now the 507 isn’t listed as a boutique only piece but as far as I’m aware I’ve only seen them sold by boutiques and going by AP UK they register the watch when conducting the sale so it should already be on their system be it maybe under someone else’s name. |

Now please don’t take this the wrong way but are you 100% it wasn’t a reflection off a movement jewel? There’s a few ruby jewels located in the 9-12 section and had a few reflection catch off the hands when checking mine? |

I can see that. Cant be normal. Must be some kind of paint/glue/chemical contamination.
Get AP to take a look |

Definitely can be seen. I'm sure 99% of owners would have missed that but now that you've spotted the issue it will always bother you. I'd think AP will sort it out for sure but downside will be you will probably be without your watch for a while. Definitely keep us posted on the process.

Two options then, back to DWL if you want to return it or personally as it’s under warranty and if the deal was right pop it into Brooks Mews and let AP sort it! Nothing against DWL or any stand up grey dealer but if you plan to keep it and just get it sorted I would go via AP myself, not saying they would but a dealer might want to sort it in-house so to speak. |

I have been wearing my 5711 more and more - it’s just such a comfortable watch to wear. It’s a joy frankly. The Royal Oak is nowhere near the same comfort levels.
I don’t think it’s the right comparison however. If i could just have one watch out of the two, I would take the Openworks no doubt at all. However if choosing say between a 5711 and a 15400 then I would take the 5711. I would rather have all of them to be honest !! |
