AP 15450 steel/grey vs. Rolex 126710 BLRO

So — grey prices are approximately on par with these two models, steel for steel.

I like both but only want to buy one. I already have a 15202BA and 126711 CHNR, but neither watch in a simpler steel.

So — if you could get either one for ~$19k, which would it be and why?

Curious for your thoughts and logic.

Thanks!

out of those 2 and with what you already have I'd go BLRO. it feels a bit sportier/more rugged to me than the PM/tt pieces you already have. I think the grey dial 15450 feels kind of "jewelry-ish" with the low contrast, which might not be as varied a vibe. can't go wrong though, both great watches--I have a 15450 and a BLRO and I'm in love with both.

BLRO. You already have a Royal oak.
Easy choice here.

Get the ap after buying my first ap about a month ago and wearing it everyday i went back to my rolex gmt yesterday and it just brings me zero joy to wear. So much so i am thinking about flipping and buying another ap. AP is just on another level far superior watch in every way IMO

It does, does it? I hope AP upped its reliability. The fit and finish is a very good first impression.

I’d rather take the RO than pay the ridiculous mark up on the BLRO. If both were at retail, I’d take the BLRO

I'd say the opposite, you already have exactly the same model GMT, so get the different model RO.

I would look at a 15300st, wearing mine right now.

I would not keep my BLRO over it.

The 15450 I see for those with much smaller wrists but it is a matter of taste.

No way I trade my Pepsi for a 15450

definitely blro over the 450 for me but thats because I personally do not like the fit of the 450. if we're talking a 39 or 41 RO then the RO.

I have both, and the above is spot on.

Maybe it is because most of my watches are Rolexes, I would go with the AP. I currently have plans to buy one.

Great question!

Based on the OP post (and current collection), the Daytona (assuming Ceramic).

In terms of head-on, the 15450 is a better watch (in my view).

As a one-watch-only option, the Daytona.

Here’s the thing...I adore the Royal Oak, and the 15450 is my favourite variant! I know that’s unpopular, and it should be the 15202, but I happen to think the dimensions of the 15450 are perfect on all but the biggest wrists (although to hold in your hand the 15202 is better, but that isn’t what we do with a watch). But...I spent months saving for a Royal Oak, and then they announced the 116500, and with two minutes of the announcement I had ordered the Daytona and put the AP on ice!

I now have two 15450’s (silver dial and blue dial), and one Daytona (the 116500 has been and gone, and I have the 116519LN). But if I could only have one watch of any of the watches in the world, it would be the 116500.

So, OP should go Pepsi! But if you can decipher the rest of my ramblings AND work out whether I like the 15450 or the Daytona the most, you’re a better man or woman than me!!

Nope, has not at all. My ran wildly inaccurate after an afternoon at the driving range. Don't get me started on how much AP charge to service their watches.

After an afternoon at the driving range? That's unacceptable! My Calatrava also started running poorly after I took it diving.

Pretty certain AP advertised RO as a sports watch, but then again for some people golf isn't even a sport. Sorry your SS "sports" watch can't handle something so... normal?

Rolex is appearing more and more basic to me next to the APs. Maybe it’s just the ridic markups but ounce per ounce the APs are a much better value and premium feeling. And they aren’t on every other wrist like in places such as NYC.

How much more do you claim it costs to service an AP compared to a similarly priced Rolex model?

Which AP did you own, and why did you never post about it in the five years you've been a member of this forum? I see precisely two (2) posts from you in the AP forum, both of which are posts in this thread, but hundreds about Rolexes and a number bashing other brands.

Haha, good catch. Wearing an AP at the driving range... That’s what Rolex is for.

True. If my first AP just performs as well as my Rolex watches, I’m getting some more. So far, very impressed with the timekeeping. And very easy to regulate.

On a full wind, my 15450 is spot on 00 for 2 days on the watch roll then slows -2 sec. per day. But wearing it, goes back to 00 and storing it crown up it gains +2 overnight.
