Keep both? 15202OR and 15202ST?

Hey guys,

I have been mulling this over for a while and figured I would reach out and see how you guys come out on this: I have a 15202OR and a sealed 15202ST that just came from the Boutique. I had originally planned to just have the ST, but bought the OR during the wait and it feels pretty darn special to me. With the prices of steel Jumbos, I feel like it is daft to have two identical watches and I should offload the 15202ST. However, I am not really a flipper and don't have any real need for the cash today (just common sense eating at me).

If the two watches had different colored dials, I would probably keep both as I only really like 39mm ROs or the new Perpetual in steel or 15407. However, they are both pretty identical and I feel like the OR is likely more special. I haven't played with the 15202ST as it is all sealed up. Not sure if I will regret offloading it in this hot market, but I am thinking it is only the hype that is making me want to keep it. I don't know if I really feel like the 15202ST is a 30k watch - the OR feels like a 50k watch on the other hand.

Key watches in my rotation these days, if it matters: 5712/1a, FPJ CB, 15202OR, and Rolex BLNR.

Thanks guys!

I would sell the ST. Or just keep in your safe. The OR is so stunning.

thanks man.

thats what i am thinking. I assume i could happily leave the ST sealed in the safe for a while longer and do even better. But just seems daft to own a watch and leave it all sealed up for months (i am no dealer). I could wear it but i have other crap, so why lose a few grand just to play with it.

Great collection! Kind of agree with hanging on to the OR. Maybe sell the ST and add a panda ROC or 15400/15300 for a daily wearer. You can’t really go wrong either way.

I think if you truly love the gold, sell the steel variant. If you are only keeping it for the hype, sell it and make some cash. I personally can't see the ST prices going up much more and it's only a matter of time before they correct anyhow. And if you aren't going to wear it, just pull the trigger and do something else with the cash.

Thanks guys. Decided to let the steel go if I get a good price. I don’t think I 30k love it or get all the hype. If I didn’t have the OR then I would definitely keep it. I feel like the OR is the “sexier” version so having both is redundant. I guess I’m not a purist.

Appreciate the help

You have a nice varied collection so no need to rush. It is a bit duplicative so I'd probably sell it for a Lange 1 MP or an 1815 chrono etc.

Keep both. These are still two different watches.
I have 15400SS and 15400OR both with white/silver dial.

The only thing I'd say is that the 15202ST price may continue to rise since any Nautilus is so hard/expensive to get.

Yeah, I feel like I’ve seen Nautilus prices stay relatively flat or fall a bjt from their peak a few months ago. Steel APs on the other hand, seem to be only creeping up. Since I’m not in a rush, I should probably wait a few more months but I got a decent offer from a dealer (over 30), so I think I should just walk and figure it out later.

Over 30 is a very strong offer from a dealer

Indeed. That’s solid if on straight sale and not trade in. I don’t personally see these going much higher than 35k ever. I think the market has already peaked on hyped watches. Time will tell.

(For the record I love the watch and had one I’m just speaking on the current state of the market in general)

Are you going to wear the ST? If not, if will be good for someone to enjoy it.

Great collection. Selling the 15202 st seems the most logical option. As much as I hate recommending you to sell it because it is a wonderful watch, it seems the right thing to do. Can you take couple of weeks or a month to think about it before deciding? You may change your mind.

There are 4 blue and 2 white Nauts for sale on Watchfinder now, more than I can remember for a long time so maybe buyers are starting to peter out.

sell the Steel and put the profits into getting a custom rotor done for the OR. Then you are not really flipping, just putting the money back into your watch.

If i had a 15202, a custom rotor would be a must

I really wanted a custom rotor 15202 as well after seeing E. Ku's. Also there was another guy, here maybe, who had a really cool shipping logo putt on his because he worked in that industry.

I think sam told me with my flipping habits it would be much cheaper to change my initials to AP

I will keep the 15202ST. It's iconic and historic, the one watch that started the highend SS Sports watch segment.

Ive seen two custom jobs, one on IG and one here. For a keeper its an awesome option to have. Its like a Patek T stamp, but cooler because its your individual stamp

Thanks for all the help guys. My plan was always to add a 15305, but when the 407 came out I put my name down and figured I should wait. Lately, I’ve realized that I may not love that golden bridge or the 15300 sizing. So im planning to offload the 202ST for a 15305 or openworked perpetual in 39mm ... I think I prefer the time only but the prices are so close that I’m a bit lost ?

I also wonder if this is a dumb time to buy one ... with them trading sky high. I don’t know if it’s just a result of the steel watch hype or if these are also special and cult watches. So I’ll babe more downside protection.
