233 for AP Diver

Know that this is a Panerai Forum, but what do you guys think. Trade my 233 k dot dial plus about $3K, for an AP diver. And if any of you have an AP diver how does it wear in comparison to a Pam 50's casse? Thanks in advance for the input.

Its a fair trade value wish assuming both have all b&p.

I have worn both and I'd say the dial is smaller on the AP, but the AP sat higher on my wrist. You really need to have it on your wrist to be sure though. Each wrist is different.

Also, an important consideration with AP is its service and bezel condition. It is expensive to get those AP's service. Panerai isn't cheap, but AP is more (guess about 3-4x Panerai).

Yup, like Mik said, AP service costs are a very real consideration.

Also, I would say expect it to need routine maintenance to keep it healthy, unlike say a Rolex that can just run and run and run......

Both my APs needed "APSC love" pretty early in their lives

Diver's an awesome watch but doesn't fit my 6.5" wrist well... to my chagrin, none of the ROO line fits me well. AP service is about 2x Panerai. To be honest, you'd be trading in a nice complicated movement for a simple 3120 movement. Personally I wouldn't do it. Now if you're talking about the new carbon/ceramic Diver... YES!

I find the diver very comfortable. The 233 sits flatter and has a more snug wrist fit...but if you find the 233 ok the diver will be fine. I have both and if I had to let one go.....it'd be very very close.....but probably the 233.

If both watches are complete and in similar shape, I'd say it is a good deal financially speaking, you would actually be ahead $500-$1,000.

Only you can figure out if it is worth it. They watches give completely different impressions, the 233 with a matte and relatively big dial. The ROO Diver has a more pronounced case/bezel - shows more metal - and a more 'normal' dial size. The dial has a mega tapisserie, which is on the large side (I would have preferred a slightly finer tapisserie myself).

Tough call. If I could only have one it would probably be the AP, just a different class of watch over the Panerai, but again the 233 is a great EDC piece.

this is a tough one! i think, in the long run, i'd be ever-so-slightly happier with the 233 dot.

good luck with the choice!

EDIT: if the other were a Safari, I'd probably lean towards the AP.

Tough call. Two different leagues. Two entirely different pieces.

Two great pieces, each special in its own way. And yes, that is a great deal.

Fair trade value considering both are complete. However, my choice would be to keep the 233 as the domed crystal and matte dial are winners for me.

You'll miss that dot 233 for sure.. Some say 233 is the ultimate PAM..

And for the diver, its new and the hype is still strong, if you're bored with 233, it doesnt take long once you own the diver too..

They are both very special. Whilst mines not a dot dial I love so much about it. As for the diver .... Completely different and the mega tapestry .... Well.... Awesome. Maybe save and wait. :)
