ABC WATCHWERKS - Any Issues?

Anyone have repairs currently at ABC? Have you been able to reach them?

I don't want to be alarmed, but they have a very expensive and rare piece and have gone silent.

Please advise if you have had any issues recently or have suggestions about how to deal with this.

Thank you,

Eli

I just corresponded via email with Aaron Kohut (signature states he is a Service Coordinator) regarding a service estimate this morning, 5 or 6 back and forth messages between 10am and noon.

Edit: your location states that you're in LA - why not just drop by in person?

They were trying to locate an obscure part - a crown for an 8171 Padellone in yellow gold. I referred a friend and it seems that they've as of yet been unable to find the part. Fine no problem - it is a tough one to find. However, they have stopped returning her phone calls and emails and still have the watch. Hopefully it is just a miscommunication.

We'll be there Monday morning at start of business to retrieve the watch.

I would suggest that you stop by in person and ensure that they are properly caring for, and safe guarding, the piece in question.

I just corresponded with Aaron the other day. I haven't had any issues, and my last service was returned on time and on price, not that long ago.

The guys at ABC watchwerks are some of the best at what they do- especially when it comes to case restoration.

ABC does great work, and Alex and Aaron Kohut will take care of you. Perhaps an especially busy week or two? I bet it will all work out.

Heard back from them via email - will be picking up the watch first thing Monday. I've never had any trouble with them in the past with restoration and service so this must just be an odd case. Thanks all.

UPDATE: Took another week or so to get the watch returned -- and it is, as should be expected with their history and reputation, a solid job. I'll post pictures of the watch later. They were able to source the crown and repair the watch.

However, communication is everything in business and hopefully this is just a random case of it somehow breaking down. Delivering bad news or project delays to clients can be difficult - it sucks on both sides - but unreturned emails and calls only compound the problem and without timely responses and clear communication can cause the client to assume the worst.

That said, I've personally had great experiences with ABC and hope that we all continue to do so in the future.

Thanks to Aaron and Alex for following through in the end and making good.

I used them to service a vintage Seiko turtle diver (6309-7409). While they did a very nice job on the watch, their communication was terrible. And they blew their timeline on a basic service. Took me months to get the watch back. For that reason, I would not recommend them. Wondering about the status of a Seiko diver is one thing, but if I sent in a Rolex, I would be really concerned.

I sent both abc and laww and identical email with pics of the watch I was looking to getting estimate on.

Laww responded in hours and abc was about 5 days later.
Laww's estimate was 550 and abc was 150. Both wanted to inspect for firm estimate.
Abc has a shipping offer which makes things very easy as well which was a nice little bonus.

At this point I'm torn.

Has anyone dealt with them lately? I contacted ABC a couple of months ago regarding a service estimate. They were very responsive until I sent them the watch (a few business days after the initial contact). Since then, I have not heard from them and they have not responded to any of my follow-up emails.

ABC Watchwerks in Los Angeles appears to have done fine work on the Omega Speedmaster that I purchased from Scott. His original sales post implied satisfaction https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=564226
