Sell Panerai to make way for another, or add?

Hi everyone, I’m after some advice please.

I currently have a Panerai 40mm GMT (PAM 244) and a Rolex Sea Dweller (ceramic 116600). I bought the Panerai brand new in January 2008 and it’s a fantastic watch. I wanted it for about five years before I eventually got it (originally I wanted the 159 but it became the 244 after some time). Nearly 10 years later the watch is still with me, in virtually as new condition as I don’t wear my nice watches that often and when I do I’m very careful.

I recently started looking at Panerai again and have come across the 1392 (42mm 1950 case etc). I managed to try it on and it feels better on the wrist than my 244 - lighter weight, and thinner, so it doesn’t feel as top heavy.

The question is, do I buy the 1392 and add it, or do I sell the 244? I’m concerned I will miss the 244 after having had it so long. I have made a certain attachment to it! If I sell it I don’t know how much I will get but I think I might feel it is worth more to me than the money I receive. However, I can’t really justify two PAMs, and the sale of one would help fund the 1392.

Sorry it is such a long winded post!

If you don't need to sell your 244 in order to buy the 1392, why not keep it and see how things settle later?

If you can swing it, add the 1392 without letting go of the 244. Enjoy both for a while and if you notice the 244 isn't getting any love after some time, then consider moving it along.

As to not being able to justify having two Pams? I think the better question is: How can you justify only owning one Pam? Watch forums are all about enabling and justification so you're in the right place to help get over that concern!

Thinking long term, what’s the servicing procedure with the new Panerais? Does it have to be sent back to Panerai?

in-house mvmt needs to go back to pasc, or an authorized watchmaker who can get the parts, if it's not and in-house mvmt anyone can work on it

I own a 244 and 16600 SD40s (D, M, and Z) in my collection. I used to have a 1392 and got rid of it after a couple of months. I, of course, tried and didn't like the 1392 particularly. I much perfer my 244. But if you must, keep the 244 and buy the 1392 as a supplement rather than get rid of the 244.

I just pulled the trigger on a new 1392 and should have it in a couple of days. I decided I would hold on to the 244 for now and see how I get on.

What didn’t you like about the 1392?
