Good to hear that it’ll be rescued. Hope you have good fortune sourcing the parts.

I’ve done the same for a Seamaster from the ‘60’s and found a donor movement from which I could salvage parts for my watchmaker.

It had a strong family history so the cost wasn’t important. The fact that it lives onward is the reward.

Come back and share the “then & now” project along the way.

Insured? If so it should pay for the damage.

I would send it off to Omega personally.

I have many watches insured... not this one unfortunately.

I’m a little reluctant to send it to Omega directly (scared of what that bill will look like for a total overhaul).

Anybody have an independent watchmaker that works with Omega parts that might be willing to take this on??? I’m all ears.

I'm guessing it's not going to be cheap anywhere

I would recommend Archer Watches

That was painful. Sorry this happened. I'm sure your brother feels bad as well.

I would just buy another Speedy. Personally I don't think it's worth a rebuild.

Thankfully I did not lend out my Speedy Pro (3572.50), so I have this to satisfy my speedy needs while I contemplate my next move.

Wow, what a shame.

I'd be looking for a new reduced speedy and speedy reduction in my bother.

Definitely not. Particularly with a neo-vintage, late 90s, no service history watch... he’s clearly deflecting responsibility.
