Heading to the AD today and have the itch

Heading out in 2-hours and have been itching to buy a new watch for a while.

I know I should do my research and make a logical decision....but I'm running on emotion right now.

I've recently seen the Speedy Racing white dial and it sings to me.

As does the 50th Anniversary Apollo 11th Speedy Gold. But big $$$$$

Decisions, decisions.

I'm back...and sadly, empty handed.

First, the Speedy Ed White 321 I have on order is not expected to arrive in Canada until some time in September. And the Boutiques will be receiving the first ones (despite my AD being the oldest Omega dealer in the area).

I did manage to see the Speedy Racing White dial in the steel. What a lovely watch. Where I normally stick to steel bracelets, the watch is better suited to leather. Although I normally try to limit watch purchases to LE's, this model really sings to me.

We then chatted about the Gold 50th Anniversary Apollo 11 Speedy. I was told it was a boutique only watch. But my AD will reach out to Omega Head Office to see if they can secure one. Not holding my breath....

Decisions, decisions....

That speedy racing white dial is stunning. Master chrono too so it's ultra accurate and ultra durable.

I think the racing speedy rivals a Daytona. Not afraid to say it.

Congratulations. I own the Speedmaster Racing with the black and orange dial and really like it. It is a strap monster and works well with various NATO's and leather straps.

Totally LOVE the Racing Speedy, particularly in white. I prefer it over the Daytona, and you get a date.

The gold Apollo is on another level. Hard to compare them directly. I prefer it over the TT anniversary model. Doesn't have the gimmicky 9 subdial.

I normally only buy watches on bracelets....however this Speedy really does go well with straps.

As it so happens, my AD has the white-dial with gator strap on display.

Going for the gold Apollo is a stretch. Doable.....but I suspect I would suffer serious buyers remorse if I went that route.

I had the black racing dial but sold it and regret it so badly. It will be added back to my collection soon.

But that gold speedmaster

My search has expanded to the used market. Considering a gently used 60th Anniversary Seamaster Trilogy and a vintage 45022-69 SW Apollo XI.

Hope to see them in the steel over the next few days.

Acquisition as of yesterday. Automatic, vertical clutch/column wheel, sapphire back, METAS accuracy, date...

What's not to like? Bought the bracelet, but going crazy with straps soon.

Thanks. I thought about waiting, but do I want a less accurate movement? I appreciate the 321 historically, but it seems like going backwards, when Omega has already developed a METAS-certified co-axial.

YMMV

Very nice. My AD has the white dial but I have not yet seen the black dial in person.

I'm meeting the fellow on Tuesday to see the Seamaster. As it was a daily wearer, the ultimate decision will hinge on condition.

Rivals it?

Are you afraid to say that the omega is the better watch?

Because I’m not
