Playing w/new toy DJ & GMT II

Trying to get a grip on this camera. Thought I would put these up for constructive criticism.

OK I'll be first. Take the terry to the watches before you take pics not after.

You asked for it
Please note, that the comments below, are of course my complete subjective opinion

First of all. I think the focus is nice on this one, showing only the dial in focus - it's good to see the shallow depth of field, graduately blurring the background the further "in to" the picture you go.
It's a bit under-exposed, and the contrast is too low. Regarding perspective, it's a shame you didn't get the whole winding crown.

On this one, the contrast is waaaay too high, and the picture is over-exposed. I would also have preferred the angle being higher (more straight on the dial), to show more exciting and beautiful details of the watch. The angle on which the Datejust is presented, does nothing for me.

Here - again the picture is a little over-exposed, but the contrast appears "okay". The shadow in the lower right corner bothers me, as does the small complicated buttons in the upper left corner. It's also a shame you didn't get the whole bracelets.

A couple of good things to add:
The "white balance" appears to be pretty accurate
The colors appears to be accurate
The watches are very nice!

Don't hate me

I have tried to clean them up a bit, just to give you an idea of what I mean:

Higher contrast, lightened the dark (under-exposed) areas:

Lowered the contrast, darkened the "blown out" (over-exposed) areas:

Higher contrast, lightened the darker areas, darkened the "blown out" areas:

Nice combo, Buz. Love that Jubilee bracelet with that DJ dial - go so well together.

Thanks for the help Claus, no I don't hate you, this is why I asked for criticism. What program do you use to manipulate the pics. I know that I need to get my old Time-Life series back out and do some refreshing regarding composition, but as this is my first digital camera I would like to hear people's criticism and opinions. I think it's really neat to have a "digital darkroom" on the computer and just wondered what you use and or would recommend. Thanks,

Thanks, JJ, it really is a an attractive watch to me, but I gotta say your YM is outstanding, maybe someday, but now that I've blown my year end bonus on watches and a camera I will have to wait awhile.
back at ya.

I hate say it, but I may just sit down tonight and read the manual for the camera. But, I WILL NEVER ASK FOR DRIVING DIRECTIONS.

Claus, I actually used a flashlight for lighting so that may attribute some to dark corner.

It's a Canon G9. Not a true SLR but it has the ability to accept other lens, remote flash and has 12.1megapixels, has a macro setting and a lot more stuff I don't know how to use yet.

BTW, you don't like my watches?

$285-485 on Amazon for CS2 $625 for CS3.

I hate to spend that much on the program.
Has anyone used these internet downloads for programs with huge discounts. Do they work? are they legal? is there support?
When I googled CS2 one popped up at $79.
