Patek service centers are back up and running
I dropped off my Patek at the local AD in early June, and I was told the Patek service centers would likely be reopening later that month. I wasn’t expecting to hear anything so soon, but I was sent a note today (July 18) with the cost of the repair/servicing.
Just wanted to share in case anyone is looking to send off their watch. |

This is good news that HSWA service department is back in operation. Since the COVID numbers are sharply down in the NYC metro area, this is not surprising.

Update: watch returned yesterday.
So in case you’re interested in sending off your watch. Here’s the synopsis Dropped it off June 5th Late June - service centers reopened July 18 - got the estimate for the repair October 28 - got the call to come pick it up All of this sounds rather reasonable. I was expecting it to be 4 to 6 months. One of the reasons I sent it off was to correct the off centered date wheel and it was running 30 minutes fast each day. (Yes minutes, not seconds). As I picked it up to set the time, the bracelet fell apart. Thank goodness I wasn’t wearing it. Hopefully the AD can fix something this simple. |

Looks like the little springbar was not reinstalled securely. Should be a simple fix - you could probably compress it with a fingernail if you don't have a springbar tool.

Servicing is how PP makes its serious money. £1500 average a hit per watch sold every 3-5 years and 60,000 sold each year - do the math. Why would they make more Nautilus SS entry level watches when the margin on precious metal is so much larger?

And better than I thought
Just to add to this thread, my perpetual calendar (Ref 3940) was sent in for a full service mid July - they said it would take 4 months. I thought based on reading horror stories on PP service turnaround times in other threads it would take at least 6 months. It was about 3.5 months.

I have had a 5940g and a 5320g full service. Dropped off in June and both came back in less than 4 months from PP.
