Hi Kan,
I think most would agree that our timepieces should be serviced on an average of every 5 to 7 years unless otherwise evidenced.

I will go along with the standard spiel......... sort-of
Let me add..... I will go 10 years with those watches that do not see much wrist time or are not subjected to harsh conditions...and I don't think it is an issue.. The Rolex books always say that your Rolex should be serviced every 5-7 years........but the latest from Rolex Watchmakers, who get policy from Corporate, are now saying about 8 years.. Knowing how any business works, they are always conservative so the product stays as pristine as possible. Using that business philosophy, I do not see any possible harm that could come from any Rolex that went 10 years between services... Now, if you are noticing any issues...do it now..

But one you wear daily, (365) should be serviced every 5-7 years. My recent "bundle of joy" was purchased new in 2005 and I got it Thursday. Unless I see something happening, i.e. slowing down, speeding up, etc., I should be looking at a service in 2010/2011ish?

I'm glad someone mentioned the new eight year policy because that coincides with my SD4000. Last overhauled in 2001, it loses about 15 seconds a month. I'm not going to get it serviced until that changes, because I fear it would become less accurate, not more.
