Ok... Will we see 3135 Parachroms on 16610 Sub?
Break out your crystal ball or whatever soothsaying devices you might rely on.
How many of us think that there might be some current Subs that get the 3135 with Parachrom (the movement in the new Ceramics Subs) as the last trickle out the door? We all experienced the frenzy this created with the outgoing GMT model and the 3186. Thoughts? Also, is there a "wiggle test" or something equivalent for the 3135 w/Parachrom? |

The "wiggle" test can only be carried out on those watches that have the time-zone facility, i.e. the extra 24-hour hand - the GMT-II and Exp-II. This is beacuse there has been a marked improvement and modification from the older 3185 to the new 3186 movement in these models. JJ

Look its perfectly simple and has been posted many times, the main reason for Rolex plus many other Swiss manufactures to make there own escapement parts. Is the Swatch group the main supplier for escapement parts to the various Swiss watch brands for the last 4 decades Rolex included.Have said that they will no longer supply ebauche movements escapement parts outside the Swatch group. The cut off is 2010 by then all Rolex watches will have the in-house escapement parts. But in the real world IMHO it will make little or no difference in the daily average wearing whatever escapement parts are in the Rolex watch.Only the main factor that they will now be completely 100% in-house built. And the wiggle test has nothing to do with the hairspring. The wiggle test is just to tell the difference between the very minor upgrade third hand setting in the cal 3186 over the 3185.

Thanks for clearing up the wiggle test for me, I guess there is no equivalent to see if a 3135 has the Parachrom.
Yes, I have read and I understand the reason for the hairspring change and its lack of technical consequence. However, it does not mean that a GMT 3186 won't be more collectible, and in like manner, the 3135 + Parachrom in the -old- sub would likely be more sought after as well. |
