Whichever one is worth more on the secondary market.

Normally I’d ask about the employee’s style and hobbies but who am I kidding? This one’s a no brainer: Get the Sub. Also, I can have my resume sent over first thing in the morning just in case you have any openings. ;-)

This is a very generous move. I hope it goes well!

If he’s a watch guy, the Sub. If not the DJ.

I would get your employee a Sub C No Date if he is a t shirt and jean's kind of guy when he's off work. But if he's always dressed up on the clock or off the clock, I would get him a Date Just.

+1!

Some non-watch people view dive watches as gaudy and off-putting.

All of my friends who are not "watch people" always revere/compliment dress watches in conversation, no matter the brand, expense, provenance.

PM'ed you my resume.

Defo the Sub, only watch he’ll ever need.....if it’s the Datejust you prefer get the DJ41 instead of the DJ2......the DJ41 is available with the jubilee bracelet and has the new movement which has the increased 70 hour power reserve....it’s also better looking than the DJ2, more refined

Agree. The DJ II is to most non Wis what they would want and buy themselves if choosing a Rolex. The lack of a date feature for many is a WTF moment.

I bought a Rolex for my Dad ( Date ) and I asked him if he needed a date feature. He said he did.

If you think your employee is going to flip it get the Sub.

I’d say sub, but what does he wear now? A sport watch or more of a dress watch? That may give insight into his tatste.

Oyster Perpetual makes for a nice employee appreciation watch. Like the old Air-King (think Dominos).

I would actually get a DJ2 or 41. In this market the Sub is just too controversial a choice for an employer to give, and it could raise many questions and create issues from other employees if they Google this watch and see its rising price and hype. Just too much hassle, I'd get the watch that behaves like a normal luxury watch should.
