Kudos to WatchTime magazine!!

I have been subscribing to this magazine for a year and I have to say that over the last couple of months they have pulled way ahead of the competition in my estimation.

That Vacheron Constantin extra edition was extraordinary and I especially liked the article on platinum mining and its usage in timepieces. The same month they sent out the current edition with the article on the Omega Moon watch and their 50+ page sport watch review. On top of this they sent out their Rolex report card. Did you know that the timepiece to get the highest grade in WT history is the Rolex Yachmaster II?? This is out of all watches from all manufacturers that WT has ever reviewed.

I have also noticed while most other magazines are shrinking in size, it appears that WT is getting bigger. Not only in content but in advertising!

The launch of their newly designed website a few months back is also excellent and a grand resource for WIS's. It also appears to be growing and gathering information important to us who love horology. I like their watch database and their pronunciation page is very helpful to those of us that have a tendency to walk into AD's wanting to see Offi seen Pan airys instead of Off ih CHEE nay PAN ur eyes!

Hats off to WatchTime! Long may your glossy pages be mailed to my humble home! The best $65.00 I spent all year!!

Yeah I really like this magazine, however, the latest issue hadn't arrived to Finland yet today. But that's not Watch Times fault.

Very true!

Now what we need is a magazine that inspires us to get multiple jobs so that we can afford more of them.

That is a surprise about the YMII

Im not sure I understand or can guess why, but it seems like a very high accolade to receive.

I could post a scan tomorrow, but:

Bracelet and clasp 10/10
Operation 5/5
Case 10/10
Design 13/15
Legibility 4/5
Wearing confort 10/10
Movement 19/20
Rate results 10/10
Overall value 14/15

Total 95/100

[Quote ] The highest score ever achieved in a WatchTime test is 95, issued to the Rolex Yacht-Master II in 2008.

Only two watches have earned a score of 94. One of them is the Rolex GMT-Master II in 2006.

A Rolex also holds WatchTime's third highest score: The Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea received a score of 93 in 2009. [End Quote]

Although not stated in this article, I believe the other "94" was a Patek Phillipe, unsure at this time of the model number.

Some interesting stats from WatchTime:

On average, Rolex watches were rated 9.3 points higher than the average score of all other watches tested. The average score of all Rolex watches (9 tested) was 90.4 versus an average of 81.4 for all non-Rolex watches (164 tested.) Only one other brand, Patek Philippe, has an average above 90 points.

Way behind the times up here in Vancouver, Canada. I can still only get the October edition.
Cheers,

I agree.

I also could not understand why they didn't review the Yacht-Master! But did enjoy the rest of the tests.

I read this also and it made me feel proud to own a Rolex! I was shocked that Rolex blew the other luxury brands away in the WT testings. Even the like of Patek and Vacheron were outclassed.

The nice thing is that we can point to what I believe is a truly independent and well respected source for these accolades!

Having read statistics, I'd guess that Patek (unknown number tested by WatchTime) probably rated just a bit higher than Rolex's 90.4 average, even though Patek's highest score was a 94 and Rolex's highest score was 95.

In my opinion the bold above would have been written differently had Rolex's average been the highest of ANY brand tested.

I agree completely. I am always so excited to see that this magazine arrives.
