Patience Pays off in SS Dividends

Got an unexpected call my my AD today. Been building a great friendship and mutual appreciation for watches over the past 3 years. No significant purchase history but my wife picked me up a DJ II a couple years ago for our anniversary and I got her a DJ 31 last year for our anniversary. Over the years, I was only drawn to the SubC Date and the DJ II. Had a chance at both a few years back and opted to go with the DJ II as it was being discontinued and I preferred its dimensions over the DJ41. My thinking was that I could always pick up a Sub down the line. Well we all know how that has gone for everyone the last couple of years!

I regularly check in with my AD in Orlando just to chat when I am in town and remind him of my interest in the Sub. Got a call from him today and he was genuinely excited to offer me one that came in today. He gladly agreed to hold the piece for me until the evening after I got off work. It never hit the showcase despite plenty of open real estate in the glass case.

Made the two hour trek to see my AD and the watch in the flesh after work today. Happy to report it came home with me. I was smiling, my bride of nearly 26 years was smiling, and my AD was smiling. Proof now on the wrist that patience and a solid relationship with an AD pays dividends to the little guy.

Just wanted to report to the forum that there is hope! I was reassured today that a small fish in a sea void of anything SS, there is hope!

My AD took care of a valued customer. My lovely bride continues to feed my habit she describes as “exhausting”. I came home with another timepiece in my humble stable.

Wear em in great health folks!

Nice story. Proves that patience pays off and there really is no need to be going out paying huge premiums at the greys.

Congrats to op, but it still blows my mind that even SS sub is difficult to get nowadays.
