New shoes on my SkyD...Meh..

So I really liked the look of the new SkyD on oysterflex from this year so I thought long and hard about the best way to go.

I even found a knock off version of the oyster flex to try out before buying the real deal but no end links available anywhere. Trust me, I’ve looked and emailed a bunch of people. No luck.

So I went the Rubber B route because I wanted to my existing clasp. Well now that I have spent the money, played with the strap trying to get it right, added some new scratches I’m kinda over all of it.

Not to mention I can’t get the clasp to center on my wrist. It fits nice and all but it’s like I have to constantly adjust my watch on my wrist to get it to sit right. Like the fixed side is to short. Could it be because the strap is brand new and a tad stiff?

Maybe after all these years and owing quite a few I’m just not a strap guy. Then again it is only day 1 and there are some things I like. Mainly the no more PCL’s and the look does please me somewhat.

Thoughts?

I don’t like it at all. Rubber is not a good option for that watch. It looks so much better on the bracelet.

Give it time. Rubber b makes an amazing product. After a month you’ll not even think about these nits. I’m about to order a strap for an old platinum YM, to make it new again.

Let it break in a bit. Their straps are really stiff at first but that’s because they last forever.

not a fan tbh. the end links on the new model add a lot to the overall look of it and the OF daytona, OF just looks weird when it goes straight into the bezel

Yes of course. Just a tad bummed the pics online looked better than the real thing. But alas I still have my bracelet. Also don’t like feeling I wasted money but I’ll give it a week or so on the wrist.

I’m with you I’ve tried the rubber straps at least once a year or so love the look but always end up back on bracelet in under a week! They look the nuts on AP’s etc but it’s all too small for Rolex imo

The best bargain is to buy the previous Syydwleer on the leather strap. That reference is always at a discount here in the US. and already has the endlinks needed to fill the space. Then buy a Rubber B and you have the coolest update for the Skydweller at a fraction of the total cost. Just so you know the endlinks are slightly different than the previous model.

I think it looks ok, but if you don’t like it, well that’s all that matters.

I don't think the Sky Dweller looks any good on a strap, but each to our own.

I had a Breitling that came with a rubber strap (and a very nice Glidelock-like clasp) which didn't sit right until I reversed the clasp. It didn't undo and do up intuitively because it was back to front, but it was a comfortable fit and the upside down clasp was not visible when I was wearing it. I later bought an OEM mesh bracelet which was unbelievably uncomfortable and had to go.

Nah... I've always maintained O.F prices are too high and that doesn't suit the SkyD.

I find that it's feel as much as appearance that make me choose what I'm going to wear. I really love the feel of some watches on straps. They can be so much more comfortable and also reduce the bracelet wear. As others have pointed out this is just temporary as well. One other thing, it might look better with end links and a non fitted bracelet (straight across the lugs).

Purists are going to hate you OP. Haters gonna hate.

i say go with whatever strap / band / bracelet / NATO you desire on your Rolex. Yes, it would be nice to have the clasp centered tho, especuially for how much RubberB asks for their plastic straps. Am always amazed at all the haters who think it MUST be stock 100% or 'it's wrong'. That's one of the many reasons i love the Panerai crew, as we're into straps changes and bracelets and NATO and....

I really don't like any rubber strap (including the OF) and I think it looks cheap.
Any Rolex watch looks the best with the original bracelet (oyster, jubilee or president).

Another thing that is sooooo weird is that when you look, its perfect on top of my wrist, centered etc etc. Looks good.

Underneath? Its like off. So if I make a adjustment to get the clasp more centered/less bothersome then it will be off on top of my wrist. I'm like wtf. Oh well, I'm wearing it today and I will make my mind up soon.

We might see an ad in the classifieds soon lol

I like it. If you can take more pictures with better light. I really like the oyster flex on the YG gold version.
