Scratches and Dents

Just a suggestion. If you're a guy, please ask your wife or significant other to look at her jewelry. If you find (likely) substantial scratches or more, ask her if she would like you to get them polished or laser refinished. Likely you will get a strange look and be told she likes them that way.

I have learned from this and it makes life substantially more satisfying.

I’d rather ask her could she kindly keep her jewellery away from my watch as it’s the most likely cause of said scratches but that wouldn’t go down well lol

I have mine stashed AWAY from all her jewelry in case something like this happens. Of course, the “other” reason is so she doesn’t get upset over my growing watch collection!

My wife doesn’t have any jewellery. How else would I pay for my watches.

The subtle message here may be too subtle I’m afraid. I give it 24 hours before we see a new thread about .... scratches and dents

My wife wore a bracelet next to her Rolex gold 26mm for years and the watch has a whole patina of scratches. Looks fine.

Interesting...

Can you tell me more about laser refinishing?

Surely -- using a laser beam to melt the steel and then adding the same type metal to it while molten, allowing enough "extra" metal to reform the damaged area after careful machining and finishing. Rolliworks in California and several others do this work.

My wife wears a Tiffany and a Cartier bracelets on the same wrist. They constantly scratch into each other and this bothers me to no end. Of course I know better to not discuss this with the wife.

There was a time when watches were more than just jewelry. That time is long gone, it will never return. My heart bleeds for the ADs that have to patiently endure the histrionic shrieks of customers when the lug of their stainless steel “tool watch” gets slightly marked.

yes but back then tool watches were not 50-80% of someone's annual salary - I am talking normal 6 figure person - not annual salary on this forum lol

My wife is rough on her jewelry and watches. It doesn’t seem to mind her in the least. I find her rolex on the bottom of her purse, stashed in between rings and necklaces, etc. She’s not a careless person either. She’s very particular. It just doesn’t phase her. Me. I’d die.
