There is a lot of hope! The dial and hands look great. The case might need some care, and you need a new crown and tube, and most likely a good service.
The bezel can be sourced, it might be the tricky part, but I am certain TRF members will come to help. You should talk to Steve Mulholland of this forum to get the bezel. If "BOO" is a part of the US you should contact Bob Ridley for the service, but you can also contact Dalton of this forum, especially if you want to have a very special attention to the case. He is very skilled. Also, do not replace any parts like the bracelet, dial, hands. This is important! You have a VERY nice Rolex there, that will be a true collectors item when it has had its service. Good luck! Best, A |

I presume you can't tell if it runs since I don't know how you'd wind it, but do you know if it -would- run? Can you see if it has the proper movement?
I'm sure people can provide you with some figures based on certain assumptions, but without that info they're flying blind. It's probably safe to say that it will be worth far more after it has been brought back to what collectors would deem is appropriate condition. The good news for your wallet is, that means -not- replacing lots of things, and not bringing it to 100% condition. |

I would try to source as many original, period correct parts as possible. Once you have done that I would send it to Rolex geneva with instruction to fully service the movement but to leave the rest of the watch alone...

Try Stevemullholand he has many vintage pieces , and if he dose not have one he can probably locate one.. It will not be a cheap bezel for that watch though. But it will be worth every penny

Also is the dial aftermarket? I see it has T-25 on it. ?? If you get this watch original and complete it will be a beautifull piece and worth a big bag of money :)

A little mistake, the watch is actually ref nr 6536 and serialnr 155081 (thats why it looks like a 5508 at first)
Does it makes any difference for the collectible/value |

I'm in Norway as well, wouldn't risk shipping that watch abroad when you got an excellent RSC in Trondheim, sent you a pm about them. Stay away from the Bergen RSC and possibly Oslo since they'll mutilate it. Parts you'll need get from Steve Mulholland if they don't have it, or put an ad up in vintagerolexforum. Take your time and keep it as original as possible, absolutely no aftermarket parts.
Bracelet probably will probably need to be sent to Michael at classicwatchparts abroad though. That's a James Bond sub you got there, never sell it and keep it close, or I'm sure you'll regret it one day. |

Value if you sell it anyways in that state and this economy, roughly estimate at 7000-10500 USD depending if the movement is intact or completely rusted, serial nr intact, papers or not, dial aftermarket/relumed or not etc... for a between 1956-1957 6536/1 sub.

The 5508 was the upgrade for the 6536, so yours is a couple of years older, It seems to have the smaller 6mm crown.. save this as the stem is simply broken and a new stem can be fitted and the old crown screwed back on. The larger crown version may be slightly more in demand.. (The James Bond thing) As said, the hands and dial look excellent for a watch made in the 50's. A correct bezel may be the most difficult thing to source. those who have one for sale know this.. and also know your watch will jump in value with it, so they are always overpriced.. How far you go with it will depend on how much you want to spend.. With a bezel, it's worth an easy 20,000 dollars....... don't let anybody screw you out of it's value without one..

That bezel is the wrong shape for your reference, you'll need one like this:

I like it.
It'll definitely do until a correct bezel can be sourced. Find a good man to service it and replace the case tube and you'll be in business. |
