Big price difference between the two. By my reckoning, if you're buying brand new, the YM is about US$2k more expensive because of the platinum content.
Both are rarely seen in the wild. The Milgauss doesn't have a date but the YM's resale (at least during the first couple of years if you buy new) isn't good. Both bracelets have PCLs (which some people think is a disadvantage) and I think both have clasps that aren't great - some TRF members have had problems with the Mil's clasp popping open too easily while the YM has the flimsy Fliplock. The Milgauss has two cases to ensure maximum protection from magnetism and so weighs more than other watches but I don't know if it weighs more than the YM. The Mil also doesn't have protective shoulders for the crown, but this is rarely an issue for most wearers. However, both are handsome watches and can be used in a variety of settings. If you're going for the YM, maybe buy used - that way you're hedged from the initial depreciation. Good luck! |

I'm not sure, but some watch dealers claim that it's because the bezel is expensive to replace if scratched. Maybe the same reasoning applies if the dial also needs to be replaced.
However, if you track prices on Ebay and in used watch shops, you'll see that the depreciation after several years is about the same as other, more popular models like the TT Blue Sub. |

YM I think it's better looking that the white Milgauss. We've also had some members have some trouble re-selling their white Milgauss when they became tired of it. Ask Mosco or Heru-(Trurolxer).
If it's something you're going to keep then it all depends on what smiles at you the most

I voted yachtmaster as well but to be honest I would never ask an internet forum what I should spend hard earned cash on. That decision is mine and only mine :)
Hope you figure out what you want!

Yachtmaster... for all the right reasons above...
The added bonus is the platinum... maybe in 20-30 yrs, the price for platinum shoots up the roof, you might have a very valueble piece... lol... just a fun thought. |

So there were 51 votes for the YM and only 7 for the white Milgauss? Wow - even though I thought the YM would win, I wouldn't have guessed the margin would've been 88%-12%!!
I wonder what the figures would be if it was the S/S YM versus the Milgauss GV? |
