Panerai discounts a myth?
Called up a few dealers and none of the AD will discount.
Local factory store definitely doesn't do it either. I've settled in on a 614 or 1305 depending on price. |

You have to physically go to the AD to be offered a discount, it is something between you and the salesperson and not to be discussed over the phone. My most recent offer was about 20% on anything they could get their hands on.

That reads like a message from 2006. Its 2018 and Panerai is getting discounted left right and centre. 20% is easy to get for a non LE model - but you either have to go in-store personally or deal with an online discounter/grey dealer to get it...ADs are generally "prohibited" from discounting more than 5% so they will not discuss giving you more than this over the phone as they are basically trying to breach terms of their contract with Richemont. Everyone knows they do it, Richemont knows they do it but don't blame the player, blame the game;) hence all the shenanigans about it.

Hmmm...doing a few mins of research will answer all your Qs. Try typing these words in your google search: "How Grey Market Dealers Get Rare Watches", and you'll see a few videos explaining the mechanics of the industry in a pretty good level of detail.

Discount offers are made in person. No one will ever offer one over the phone unless they really know you well. Panerai tend to have a lot of variability in terms of which models are discounted at what rates. Even regular production pieces can vary in terms of discounts offered as there are fan favorites and harder to sell models. The 1305 is pretty popular model. I'd imagine the margins on it is smaller, though still probably existent.

Some ADs will quote discounts over the phone, such as with my recent purchase.
PM if interested. |

I see a lot of gray dealers selling pre-owned Panerai's. Is there anybody on the forum who is the go to person for NIB Panerai's?

Boutique doesn't offer any discounts, only throw in a strap. AD usually offer good discounts depending on model.
