Getting VAT back from a gray seller

Hello

I will be traveling in UK and EU this month.

I'm interested in getting a new BLNR. See the prices in Chrono they are close to what SRP is in Dubai.

However if I was able to claim back some of the VAT it would ve quite competitive.

Does anyone know if this is possible as it is not a straight boutique purchase?

Firstly depends if the seller is VAT registered and secondly if they participate in a refund scheme which I’d doubt for many grey market sellers.

I doubt they will charge VAT in the first place

If they do, it will a VAT on a margin scheme. So they will only pay VAT on their profit.

Most EU-based greys wont bother with VAT refund.

Isn’t VAT only applicable on new goods? Watches from grey dealers are technically preowned since they aren’t an official distributor?

Whenever I have purchased from a grey there has been 0 VAT

Yes and this also means no tax refund

Most can't as they buy and re-resell already VAT-declared merchandise.

First grey dealer and the VAT refund, where will it end? You want both the watch and the money.
