That one on ebay was serviced at RSC and without a doubt has a new replacement insert with luminova pearl. I have found that the tritium pearls often gets darker than the hands/dial because it's more exposed to the elements.

I don't think 76100s and 79090s are expensive in relation to a new Rolex sub or a Tudor heritage. $1000 more than a heritage is a total deal for a plastic crystal watch with Rolex parts on it.

I was too surprised when seeing prices that Tudor Subs command. I bought a mid 1970s 94110 (pictured) for $400 in 1992ish (FYI not for sale). I guess I should have purchased a few more!

As observed at the beginning of the thread in 2013, the difference is still about a grand or 2 between a nice 79090 and a ceramic 114060.

Other than the vintage appeal (love the thick acrylic), over 10 years the cost might be the same given the need to service the 79090 two, maybe 3, times.

Just like every other Rolex sports model! Prices are ridiculous across the board at this point.
I think modern Rolex models would crash before vintage Tudor do.

The ends are stamper 50. Made for the larger bars. Bracelet is a 68 rolled jubilee.

When the current Tudor line re-introduced the “flake” hands the popularity of the originals went up as did the pricing.

But I think you'd have to be very lucky to find a gilt dial one for $8-9k now.

It has a long 5 insert and a nice chapter dial. Just those 2 parts are worth $10,000. No way you can get all this for 8-9k

Tudor are killing it at the moment and they’d do really well to release the snowflake sub again.

Imagine at the next Basel, new blue snowflake in the same size sub case with their in house chronometer movement for £2500! They’d clean up I reckon. I’d be jumping on one.

I’m convinced that modern Rolex being super shiny and having everlasting ceramic bezels is one strong reason vintage prices are climbing. Doesn’t it seem sad to anyone else that a new sub in years to come will look like a new sub? No more grey ghosting bezels and lume aging. Rolex will never go backwards so we won’t ever get that vintage goodness ever again.

Tudor on the other hand... they’re producing lovely watches that will age as gracefully as their owner!

I agree with all of this and like your vivid imagination of a Basel 2019 blue Tudor sub.

The lack of character and large chunky cases and lugs is what got me to Tudor from Rolex. And I have never looked back.

Very unlikely to come around at $8-9K. I haven't seen one at least. Extremely beautiful watches these early tudors honestly.

A blue 79190 is a super sweet watch.

Probably the only Tudor Sub I'd consider after owning a blue 79090, and a black 94010.
