My crystal ball is foggy. Excluding the current growing areas of Texas and Florida I’ll hazard people go to other states with favorable tax status.
Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee

Avoid Denver and NYC.
Stick to low tax and low regulation states. There are still plenty. Even in a red state there are purple cities to avoid I’m an independent, not a Democrat or Republican. I know how to do math |

Economy US

The US Economy coupled with both of your variables "dont want to pick the wrong place" and "2030-2035" makes your question rather difficult. Some calculus will require defining "wrong". Quality of life means factoring variables beyond the economics. If that's true, my suggestion is somewhere in Florida within 30 minutes of an International Airport. If you want to have a life-changing experience - pick Key West, FL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’d look to climate/weather patterns and trends (including catastrophic event frequency).
That takes S Cal off my list despite family there. Florida and much of Texas too. Several “Midwest” states are well positioned for climate trends. Economy-wise that timeframe is going to be highly speculative. If auto tech remains hot then Detroit area will continue its recovery. Cali is well positioned with tech clusters but climate and current costs are strong counters. NYC (where I spent most my adult life) has been in a downtrend but I wouldn’t count it and its surrounding areas out. |

The problem the US and so many countries have at the moment is national debt spiraling up. The US adds a trillion dollars to the national debt every 100 days. This will be a problem no matter where you live in the US at some point.

Wyoming. No personal income tax and low cost of living. Just up the road from Denver.

It would not surprise me Seth those markets can be volatile. First to rise and first to fall. Being a RE broker I have a lot of opinions there but that’s for another day

I wish more people would heed the advice to avoid Denver. Our lift lines are getting too damn crowded. Quality of life is waay overrated.

One should avoid Wyoming at all cost ! The wind never stops blowing, winter lasts for eight months, unbelievably cold, healthcare is almost nonexistent, amenities are not readily available, property prices are ridiculously high, and the locals despise outsiders to the point of criminal absurdity !

I’d avoid cities like NYC, Chicago, LA, SF, Philly, Seattle like the plague.

For me Charleston SC is fabulous and probably my favourite place in the country. Ok I’ve not worked there but for location and scenery it takes some beating |
