Rolex Salesperson Manual Ch 6: Keep a straight face and try not to laugh when hearing the usual silly requests.

He went there this Saturday past (and yes, they are kinda busy on Saturdays)...but my employees direct quote to me was "what's with that guy XXXXX?...he pretty much bum rushed me and my wife out of the place and wouldn't talk to us". Yes, the employee is young, he's not rich, has never bought a luxury timepiece of any sort, and he/wife probably not dressed to the nines. Result: that same employee went on Chrono24 this week and bought a Tudor at a discount from a rando dealer because of the way he was treated at that AD by the SA. |

The manual overlooks the pre-worthiness test to prove you’re able to even be on a list - so.

I could care less about dressing up to go watch shopping. I didn’t even wear my Rolex when I was walking around Chicago a few weeks back. The Rolex AD I made an appointment with was very gracious. He called me back over the phone to verify I was stopping in. Talked watches with me a bit over the phone, and said he’d have a SA there to help when I arrived. She indeed helped me try on nearly every exhibition model they had, and asked to make sure they had my info when I asked to go on the list for the BLNR on Jubilee. She even bagged up a hardback bound Rolex book for me to take home.
I spent no money there. Just talked watches and expressed my interest. I had on T-shirt and blue jeans. No jewelry (other than my wedding ring), and no watch. I could have been someone who makes no money, or someone who makes all the money. She treated me the same, which I think speaks volumes about them. Will I get the call one day? Who knows? I don’t usually dress up to the level of money I make. I don’t particularly care. I’d rather be comfortable. I have several nice patterned untucked shirts I wear with nice blue jeans and nice shoes mostly when I do. I learned long ago not to judge a book by its cover. I had a patient years ago who lived in the same trailer he grew up in, and had a beard down past his belly, had horrible teeth and wore jean overalls. He was a multi-millionaire. He just chose to spend his money on philanthropy, supporting children’s charities. The other things weren’t important to him. Anyway, here’s some photos of the book they gave me. |
