Watch Straps

Hello!

I have a 1969 Caravelle Sea Hunter (Devil Diver) that I need to get a new strap for. I want something with a real vintage look to it, but keep coming up undecided, so I thought I would ask for some input.

The watch looks similar to a Submariner, but has a lot of elements of a vintage Explorer dial. I am thinking probably a tan, but maybe a vintage red or green might be a nice choice. It looks better than this photo might give it credit for. Yeah, it's taken a beating, but don't we love Rolexes that have that patina?? The numbers pop better than the photo and the hands are aged, but the watch runs very well. It probably needs a service, but I will get to that in time.

Any suggestions on the color I choose or the source for the strap?

I don't want to go with a metal bracelet for this watch. I want it to be just a relaxed casual wear item.

Also, open to any other interesting ideas!

Yes I was going to say the same. I have two 1960's dive watches both on Tropic style straps, that suit vintage watches perfectly.

Here is one.......

Interesting - and one I had not considered. That looks very similar to the remnants of the previous strap that was on this watch.

My initial thought was to go with a leather strap, probably in a tan, which I thought would look rather cool. I have very few, if any, watches with a tropic rubber strap. Hmmm....

I think the tropic is a great choice - have a few and love them. And add a second - light brown or tan leather would go well.

What about a canvas or sail cloth type?

Something like this
