I was told by the boutique that orange is no longer available. Only blue, black, white and brown are currently being offered.

How easy is it to move the folding clasp onto the new rubber strap? Need any special tools?

I ordered an orange as well as a white strap from Vagenari a couple days ago, I will post some pics when they arrive side-by-side to the OEM rubber straps.

Think the orange one would be the only one I would be interested in buying. Their pricing is actually a little bit on the high side for something made in China. It's basically almost the same price if you buy it from the boutique!

True. The pricing stinks, but I am all about instant gratification lol.

One interesting thing I was told about the white strap at the VC boutique: it is actually shaped a bit different from the other rubber straps, as it was apparently made for a different watch, maybe the overseas perpetual calendar? (I wasn’t really paying attention as I was lusting over the titanium tourbillon.)

I did notice it when they laid out several different bands side by side.

I would love this - really tempted but the price is putting me off a little considering the OEM one is not that much more expensive. But if I really wanted orange - then I have no choice

I have the original blue and bought the white. It is definitely alot softer than the blue strap, especially towards the tail but thickness looks the same.

I was told the white rubber strap is for the ultra thin model.

This is correct. I have the ultra thin qp and this white strap, for which it is made.

There are two white rubber straps and I have both from the boutique. The first one that came out was super thin (VMXF083197) and just looks weird if you put it on the 4500v/5500v. The second one that came out is thicker (refL VMXF083196) and looks great on both. Both at $280.

I received the two Vagenari straps. They look pretty good. I’ll take some side by side pics with the OEM one tomorrow.

On a related note: i was told that due to demand, VC will be selling other colored rubber straps, including orange and purple, and they will not be limited editions.

Here’s a couple pics of my RG dualtime with the orange Vagenari strap.

I was told the same thing late last year. A few weeks ago the same person (who ought to know) told me it was not the case.

Hopefully it does happen, I want an orange one as well.

Interesting, John. Thanks for sharing... I'll see if I can get some clarification at some point. I feel like this individual ought to know as well. I wasn't given a time frame other than "it is going to be a while" lol

To help others out, I've provided some pictures below.

I had ordered two straps (orange and white) via vagenari last year when it was fairly clear that all the OEM orange ones were discontinued / not available. And that obtaining even the more standard colors could come with delays.

For purpose of comparison, the black and navy blue are both VC OEM straps; the orange and the white are vagenari. The appearance, quality, and feel of the vagenari are surprisingly close to OEM; pliability, comfort, and -- perhaps most importantly -- the quick release mechanism. It's supposedly titanium, just like OEM, and the functionality seems pretty solid. I suspect that would be their justification for why these aftermarket straps are surprisingly expensive ... for what I believe to be a factory in China that's churning them out.

I also happen to have a few of the delugs VC Overseas straps, and their latch mechanism leaves a lot to be desired (does not connect as cleanly, and the finishing is a bit sharp.. sort of hurts the area under your fingernail when you attempt to mount / dismount).

You can see from the pictures that the texture and appearance are pretty spot on; the one notable difference is that the OEM connection point also has two metal fins embedded into the rubber (this seems to only go for the small length of the mechanism, and does not extend further down into the strap, like how an Oysterflex strap might). I don't know if this serves any meaningful structural property, as the vagenari straps seem to fit on pretty solidly, without these two fins.

THe OEM deployant connector fits into the vagenari just fine. But I simply put them on tang buckles (the ones that came w/ the delugs straps..) for now, as they're quicker to use (and I don't have 3 extra deployant connectors sitting around!.. I had looked into obtaining them, but doesn't seem easy)

L to R, black OEM, white Vagenari, Orange vagenari, blue OEM

L to R, black OEM, white Vagenari, Orange vagenari, blue OEM

quick release mechanisms..

note the two horizontal metal fins that underseat the latch on the OEM straps. I dont know if this makes a big difference in longer term durability, but it doesn't seem to affect how the strap feels or sits, once mounted onto the watchhead.

Great pictures, thanks a lot! Might order the orange one then as it would look bad-ass with my black chrono I believe!

You're welcome. The orange is fun and a bit eye catching (which can work positively or negatively..). I generally wear the watch most often on the more subdued colors.

How is the softness of the strap compared to the blue one?
I have a VC blue and white, and for me the blue is stiff, don't like it, whereas the white is amazing, noticably softer and more comfortable. I have not worn any for more than 3-4 days (still prefer bracelet) so its not because I wear a lot

I just picked up the orange Vagenari based on this post. I do not like non oem straps and bought two Delugs, both have issues with mechanism, fit and finish.

This Vagenari is great, soft and looks almost identical to OEM. I would not be surprised this is same source supplying Vacheron directly with a small tweak the other member pointed out

Expensive strap for non-OEM but I have no complaints!

the vagenari is soft and comfortable. perhaps even a degree more pliable than the OEM. seems odd that the blue one is stiffer than the white. i think the OEM white is a more recent color, so perhaps they changed how they were produced? did you buy them at the same time?..

I know with Panerai, the later OEM rubbers seemed softer than the earlier ones (which supports the idea that there could be production differences).. but those have been around for decades (!) and some were made in Austria vs Italy, etc..
