Quartz over the long term?

I remember reading years ago to be a bit wary buying a quartz AP due to servicing issues down the road. Not sure if this was accurate or still applicable. Just vaguely recall that pretty much could only trust AP to properly do battery swaps (I wouldn't trust anyone besides AP anyways) but more the issue was lack of support down the road where they wouldn't continue to service it. Doubt my wife would keep it that long but long term seems like going automatic would be the better choice since would be able to at least be maintained for decades, minus perhaps WR.
