I guess I'm not going to believe it until it trickles into my AD where I'm able to buy at MSRP more easily.

Good news that people there are going to less speculate on watches. Hope availability will improve soon.

“ The Rolex bubble in China on the second-hand market for Submariners jumped 240% in the six months leading up to Shanghai's lockdown earlier this year”

“the price of second-hand Rolex Submariners has crashed by 46% since March”

So, in round numbers (to keep maths simple):
January. $10,000 watch
July $34,000

March $20,000 ??
Now $20,000 - 46% = $10,800

If these statements are correct, then the price drop is incredible. Unbelievably incredible, so am dubious

If the numbers are actually a 240% increase followed by 46% drop, then prices would be $18,000. Well above the start price, and more believable. Also unlikely that many businesses would be under water in such a short timescale.

Of course, it’s what comes next that’s interesting

I was looking at a 2019 video of a watch seller in NY..........he was quoting prices, an 18kt solid yellow gold Yach-Master 2 for $28,000.....a yellow gold Day-Date for $30,000.....a few Datejust for $5,000.....I was assuming they were all lightly used, & they looked like they were in good shape.....those were the days.

If the economy gets worse within the next year, & imo it will, we will keep seeing the decline of luxury watch prices. We might see solid gold Day0Dates around $30k to $34k by next summer, thats if the economy keeps dipping.

Maybe I missed something, but for example I see a 116689 YM II WG for $28,500, and several WG DD for $26-28,000 on Chrono24, and some of these offers includes the box+papers.

Just went back to look at the video.....he has 2019 Rolex cards with each watch, so im assuming they are brand new back then.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPfK2wIELnA

Let me know if im wrong......as for Chrono24, you can find overpriced Rolex watches, but you can also find some good deals as well, just gotta take your time to look around.

Also, I see a 2002 solid gold day date for $27,500....I mean, if youre looking for a 15 to 20 year old watch you might find them at the prices you quoted, but you wont find a new watch or anything close to new in those prices of $26k to $28k from what ive seen on Chrono24.

As I told, maybe I missed the point, but I see several 4-5 years old DDs there for this money, and a lots of DD in the 8-10 years old category. I hope I will not violating any rule by posting some random findings from Chrono24:

Rolex Day-Date 36 118208 / 2017: $29,373 B+P

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/rolex...id23169940.htm

Rolex Day-Date 26 118208 2018: $29,074 B+P

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/day-d...id22492018.htm

Rolex Day-Date 26 118209 2016: $25,975 B+P

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/rolex...id23319958.htm

Rolex Day-Date 26 118239 2013: $24,230 Box only

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/presi...id24690185.htm

Also I wish to note, that these prices are not the selling prices, but the asking price, so I'm sure you can get a minimum 5-10% discount on some of these watches. For me it seems, that if I look more detailed for the offers, then I would be able to find an even younger DD in the price range you mentioned earlier. And let us not forget that these prices includes the 6-7% fee of Chrono24. So if you are dealing with a professional seller, you can get this percentage as a "discount" without a doubt.

Every link you posted is a day date without the president bracelet.....when I look for a day date, im looking for a president day date with pres bracelet, always have, always will.......I would never buy a day date on an oyster bracelet, but thats just me.

Also, these are all 36mm......the cheapest day date I saw in Chrono was this one on president bracelet & its a 40mm.

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/day-d...id24972273.htm

So I guess we differ in opinion.....maybe I should have clarified, a "president day date" & needs to be 40mm

that's a 36 not a 40. assuming the photos are real, you can tell by the end links. 40s have 2 end links and 36s until 2 years ago had 1. also 118238 refers to 36 and 40s never had a white stick dial. sloppy listing all around by them and it also looks fairly polished
