I always loved the Karmen Ghias, Al. They were never tarred with the same brush as the Super Beetles. Very nice cars, and still a collector's item!

I had 1968 Karman Gia and loved it. What a classic. I added a Hurst shifter, not sure why.

Mine was a 1963 850 mini with sliding windows, a floor starter button and granny stick.
I just wish I had a pic to show you..

It was a red 1986 VW GTI (new- I'm giving away my age). Sold it to a VW nut and the car is still in mint condition, only driven in fair weather.

Pimp-tastic

My first car:

This thing was a real boat. Huge, Wire wheels, whitewalls, extra chrome, custom pleather bench seats, bumper guards, 400 V8, oh my! I can still feel the rumble... The front seat was so big, you didn't even have to move to the back , unless of course you wanted some extra leverage. It was a motel on wheels.

This is what big American cars were all about. I think it got 8 mpg. It had more room in the trunk than some modern SUVs. I'm still annoyed that my parents sold it (after a decade of it collecting dust in the garage). I would love to fix it up now. It is a real classic.

Regards,

Beautiful land yacht indeed! Years later I drove a 1971 Plymouth Fury III and my buddy an Olds 88. We had the "tanks" in the neighborhood that's for sure.
