Would you overpay 10k for a celebration dial ?

Admittedly, I stepped away from Rolexes for the Covid and post Covid frenzy, and I am getting readjusted

When I first saw this Dial, I thought it was weird but now I really like it although I can imagine this will be very out of fashion fad type Dial 10 years from now.

It’s very funny to see the list price on this model at 6100 but is routinely selling for 15 K

Has this been common over the past couple of years?

I wouldn’t, but many would.

I saw one IRL on my vacation and it left me cold. YMMV

I love the OP Celebration. I'm hoping to get the 36mm for my wife and the 41mm for me.

At this stage in my watch collecting, I only purchase from ADs. So only retain pricing for me.

It's a cool dial but not even sure I would buy one at retail.

I wouldn’t underpay for that watch, unless it was basically given to me.

Every person in this forum will have an opinion that is their own.
You likely have worked hard for what you have, and as such, are entitled to spend your money as you wish.
Only you can determine if this purchase make sense to you. If this piece has been living rent free in your head since the moment you first saw it, then whether you buy it at the price point they are asking, is only up to you, and only you.

Secondary pricing on many Rolex models has been higher than MSRP for a few years now. Many threads here suggest that margin will narrow but still in flux for now.
The Celebration dial OP has been very polarizing, people either love it or loathe it. I’m in the camp that really likes it and wants one in the 41mm size. The problem right now is they didn’t start arriving at ADs until a few months ago and were in short supply through the end of 2023. I believe supply will get better this year but they will still be fairly hard to get from an AD until demand is met.
I personally won’t buy a Rolex over MSRP, if my AD can’t supply one I just won’t get it.

The OP celebration dial might have a short life span same as OP other colors, if Rolex makes this dial regular I bet that secondary prices will drop significantly.

There is nothing to indicate that the Celebration dial is limited but no one saw the yellow and coral red dials being discontinued after only 18 months either.

No, then I would rather donate the money to charity then over-pay >10K for a flippo.

If I had to pay a $10k markup for anything, I wouldn't be celebrating much.

I personally think the watch is unique & have it on my "lists" at several local AD's. I'm of the mindset which prohibits me from purchasing over MSRP, it's difficult to ascertain how these secondary suppliers mark the watch up 3X.
I'd be amenable to a small premium over retail to secure the watch without a wait, however this is absurd.

Speaking for myself would not pay extra for any modern day Rolex, regarding the celebration dial Rolex you would have to pay me to buy one. They look like a cheap plastic Swatch watch ,but it takes all sorts today if it's hyped it will sell,as many buy the hype to wear it.

I would not pay that. I think it’s cool at retail, but certainly not at a premium.

It’s one of those styles that sorta go in and out of style.
