I feel there's a natural connection between Rolex and PAMs or at least that Rolex owners are more likely to like PAMs and vise versa vs. other brands so not sure how unbiased it'll be.
But I think you really have to throw out some specific models - the low-end for both brands is a bit shaky but they both have some amazing higher-end pieces in the collections! |

The ETA models - expensive for an ETA base (albeit modified)
And I have no problems with ETA's (I have one and had others) just feel there's a certain ceiling as to how much an ETA based watch should cost. Obviously just a personal opinion. |

IWC by a country mile. Better finishing -- ETA motor included (Ill take a modified 7750 over a modified Unitas 6497 any day of the week) --longer, more storied history, just as iconic in the realm of pilots watches, and unlike Panerai, the brand ain't a one trick pony.
If you absolutely do have to buy a PAM though, make it a 372; it's the all the Panerai anyone needs, IMO. To wit, yes, I've had my fair share of PAMs, but they all made room for more significant pieces; my 372, however, is here for the long haul. Regards Adam |

In those particular selection watches I like the looks of the Pam more but it’s not fair to compare Panerai to IWC as a brand in general. IWC to me are leaps and bounds a more horologically significant brand … Just my opinion. As fashion watches, Panerai's certainly are smoking’ hot right now and perhaps will continue going forward, hence it will hold its value very well. I agree with Adam above though…If you gotta get a Panerai… the 372 would be all you need. Love my Panerai... and my "junky" IWC... |

Both!
Depends where you are and what you do. If you are the kinda guy who has a suit on half the time, then IWC, if you're on polo's and just a casual business person, Panerai. I think there are too many Panerai's though. |

Fit will depend on the shape of your wrist and your preference, try them both, you're in HK, not a backwater where there are no dealers or boutiques. Straps range for Panerai kills any other brand for variety. Finish is good on both, though I prefer the Attention to detail on Panerai. Paerai "package" on the whole presents better. After sales service should be similar, both brands are owned by Richemont. Richemont Singapore is a big centre. I hope this helps to answer the questions you asked, without the brand passion and emotion usually associated with Panerai. Panerai IS the new kid on the block and extremely popular, with more new models each year than IWC. IWC is a rock solid brand with an enviable history in horology and movement expertise. Cheers Richard PS. I own a Panerai and JLC. |

I was in a similar 'dilema' early this year. I chose Panerai.
Maybe next year, I will purchase an IWC. |

Tough choice. I suggest you eventually get both. Lots to choose from. Here are a couple of my IWCs.

somehow this ended up an IWC vs Panerai discussion. both are very fine choices. comes down to personal preference. for me, there are many, many, many more PAMs i want over IWC models.
as for the 3777-01 vs. 111 question, i really don't like the date cut-away on the IWC, so, 111 for me hands down. |

Thx for all the inputs! And u guys responses did help me make up my mind. Overwhelming responses on both watches make me realize both watches r worth to own, so I'm getting the Pam first and will also acquire the IWC in the near future. Thank god the price on both watches r quite buyer friendly :)

between the choices I'd go for pam111, but if its a TopGun version of IWC then it will be the ceramic. the 3777 I'm not a fan. Better off buying 3717 IMHO :)
