If only the OP has researched first here regarding service of vintage Rolexes, he would have understood RSCs.
I just found out how bad the Service Centre is for an old Rolex.
I took my 30 year old Explorer 2 into the Manila service centre. I was given a estimate of 50k pesos to service it.
The service centre informed me that the badly scratched bezel should be replaced. I dithered for days over this being sure it was not a good idea.
I was finally convinced when they assured me that the replacement was an original Rolex part.
When I got the watch back yesterday under the artificial light it looked OK. so I paid the bill of well over 50k. when I got it into daylight it looked nothing like the original in that the engraving and stain of the bezel marking was very shallow and faint.
Just as I was about to leave I was told the watch is no longer waterproof at all. I pointed out I was using it while swimming just a week before the service. They said it is now zero waterproof not even safe if I am in a shower.
So I have a ex vintage watch. I believe the waterproofing issue is related to the bezel replacement.
I intend to demand the old bezel be refitted but I dont know what they did with it.
Be aware this is not a good Rolex service centre.

hi anthony,

sorry to hear of your bad luck at RSC. yes indeed try to get your original bezel back and if you happen to plan on being here in cebu city we have an independent watch tech that can certainly make your explorer II waterproof again and inexpensively. guaranteed
