Rolex Oyster Chronograph 1959

I really, really need your help please!

I'm trying to track down this watch (https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/17800/lot/165/), a Rolex Oyster Chronograph from 1959, for my father.

The watch was given to his grandfather by Norman Buckley, and was left to my father when he died. It has unfortunately been sold out of the family and I would love nothing more than to be able to find it and bring it back into our family, if the collector will sell.

We have the funds needed, and wouldn't push the point if the collector wanted to keep hold of it. I just know how much this would mean to my dad.

Please help! I'm at a loose end and don't know what to do.

Thanks so much :)

Contact Bonhams, explain the situation and ask THEM to forward your details to the buyer.

I hope you get the call.

Paul Maudsley who ran Bonhams then is now with Phillips, I've passed on your interest and he suggests you contact him direct to see if he can help.

A lot has happened in the last 7 years with watch prices. I'm sure some here could cite a realistic estimate, I'd think it could easily be 2-3 times the selling price from then.

I wish you well on your quest.

Very cool watch and great family history. You might have more luck at vintagerolexforum.com. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if one of the dealers over there knows where the watch is now.

Good luck with it!
