5512 seconds hand not stopping after service, is this normal?
The seconds hand used to stop when pulling the crown out to adjust time.
It just got back from a servicing and now when the crown is pulled out the seconds hand continues operate? Other than owning this 1 vintage submariner all my other timepieces are modern so I could use guidance please. Is this normal? Tks. |

so its now a Non Hacking movement? and was prior to servicing? could it be that it was modded prior to you purchasing it, and its been turned back to what is date correct for the movement just thinking out aloud but id contact the people that serviced it and ask,
NB; The 5512 was introduced in 1958 and was in production till 1978, what year manufacture is yours and what caliber movement?

Thanks. I truly have no idea. Inherited the watch recently but been in the family since new and I know it's received repairs over the years. I left the servicer a message. I'm sure they will reply soon. Appreciate the help.

my 5513 was non hacking -
the hacking part is a small spring that stops the balance wheel when you pull the crown out - so perhaps the servicer forgot to replace a small part linking them all up? but if it definately came back not as it went in then you need to have words |

I ended up talking with the watchmaker. Makes perfect sense now. The internal movement at some point was replaced with a 1520 non hacking movement. Hope this helps someone else downstream and thanks everyone!

Rolex introduced hacking to 1520 somewhere around 1972 depending on sources.
