Submariner 16800

Let me introduce the newest member of my little family. The so called "Transitional" 16800. Transitional in that this model bridges the gap between the acryllic crystal 1575 movement 1680 and the present 16610.

The 16800 uses a faster beat 3035 movement. Introduced in the early 80s the first models used a matt dial with non WG surrounds. Depending on the source this was changed circa 1983 to the gloss dial WG dials used to day.

By utilizing a sapphire crystal the depth rating was increased to 300m. The 16800 was briefly replace by the Ref# 168000 (change in steel) prior to the advent of the 16610.

This one bears a 7.3mil ser. no. dating it to circa 1982.
