Interesting thread. Email sent with questions. How's the move going and when do you expect to be settled in new digs?

41mm Rose Gold Day Date 228235 Repair

This beauty arrived in our shop last week for whamo repair. Our SD card was corrupted but the client kindly provided us with the before photos. Everything always looks worse in macro, but the job was fairly straight forward. The spot on the end piece was tricky for our tools to get to but we made s tool for it.

During:

New 18k Rose Gold fill material was laser welded to fill and build up the area. We work the new rose gold material until it's smooth with the rest of the case. This minimizes material loss to the case.

Thanks. Really hoping good restoration work excuses my many many typos. When I read some of my past posts I cringe. Def moving toward more photos and less words as a result.

When do you plan on moving into the new shop? Got a box with your name on it.

The 24th. Moving ..... sigh. Much anxiety related to this. Excitement for a new space and finally being able to improve our workflow. I'm fearing (expecting) it to be a disaster zone for the first week. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Good luck with the move. I'm sure it will be a great thing once you get settled.

Rolex solid center links on modern bracelets. Stress on links are usually pulling action so all the friction is focused on the edges which are still just as thin as before maybe a tad thinner. The solid center of the link has no added benefit to slowing down wear. It does make for a heavier feel but that's about it.

Unfortunately a lot more difficult to repair than the older styles. Modern Rolex bracelets do display stretch like the old ones except the center links don’t actually “stretch” they just wear down and break.

The older Oyster bands have pins with a sleeve around it. The sleeve will actually spin around the pin and acts like a bearing to relieve a lot of friction. New bracelets with solid links dont have sleeves so its direct rubbing from pin and link. This is the result.

How unusual is that wear pattern?

Seems to be all on one side rather than both ends of the link.

The wear pattern is common but we don't run into many this far gone. But def coming our way sometime in the future.

The stress is mainly on the side that is exposed.

Is there anything preventative we can do on the solid center link models? E.g. wear the watch slightly tight, loose, etc...

Never a favorable answer to hear, but keep clean by far is the best way. Far better than wear the watch slightly tight, loose, etc...

Do you happen to know the history of this particular bracelet? How old is it? Was there regular cleaning of it? Without knowing these particular details, it is difficult to evaluate the condition of the bracelet, as it may just represent an end stage result from years of no maintenance.

Adventures in Band Repair (B4/After photos)

Clasp code dates it to 2008. Second hand bracelet purchased by client. No other info available. But the link being solid rather than hollow adds no real advantage in regards to durability in this case.

These guys are the best and pure class. They completely saved my BLNR and Michael pm'ed me a few weeks ago to ask if he could tell another customer what I paid for the work. Of course, I said, "yes, no problem." But, the fact that he asked was a classy move. I will send my watches to Rolliworks for all service and repairs. I am beyond satisfied with their work. And, you cannot believe the fair price they charge. I honestly feel they undercharged me. I have no incentive to write this. I took a big leap trusting someone in California I never met with my BLNR. I'm so glad I did. Truly unbelievable results. Quick turnaround. Constant communication with me. And, a price I actually felt was too low for what they did. Michael, I wish you great success in your business. You deserve to be wealthy because you treat people kindly, fairly and with a great sense of humor. Pure class.

Wow thanks for compliments. Youre making all of us here blush. Glad we could be of service.
