Perhaps (on extreme close-up vs. film frame) it becomes more obvious upon closer magnification.

Released in 1981 (OMEGA LA MAGIQUE) for a 1983 movie, timing is certainly right... If you check my intro post, you'll see I happen to have a NOS one, and was just advised a few nights ago by PANICDOG of WTF that he realized Pacino was infact wearing on of these!

This watch was originally sold on a leather strap, but had 2-3 versions of gold bracelets available at the time, one resembling the one on Pacino's wrist.

Did consider the Concord Delirium, but that watch was almost 1/3 the thickness of this one at 0.98mm, and hence the depth of the sunken dial would not appear consistent to that of the still picture of this movie frame IMHO.

I've since been told it was definately NOT a Delirium, and a infact an Omega La Magique - this is the flip side of the reversible watch!

Joe,

I actually think the bracelet just happpens to resemble bullets (in design), as it seems viable Sr. Montana would have opted for such.

Or who knows maybe they made that band custom for the movie, as they do resemble bullets!

My NOS Omega La Magique has the 18k gold mesh "grain d'orge" bracelet numbering 1 of 20, out of a total production number of only 261, caliber 1357 ever made.

-------

And BTW, as much as I am an OMEGA fan... the Richard Dreyfuss watch in Jaws The Movie was NOT an Omega, rather a lesser known brand, ALSTA by Alstater Switzerland (of which I happen to own 2).

See February 2010 issue of WatchTime; page 68

chrono24seven, hello fellow "newbie" and welcome! The "bullet" bracelet I was refering to actually was available on some vintage Breitlings as well as others. But yes, I could see why that particular style would seem appropriate for Pacino's character in Scarface. BTW, there has always been a lot of contraversy surrounding the "Jaws" watch. I found the article you posted extremely interesting, but I don't think it solves the mystery... it simply deepens it. At least that was my take on the article.

An archetype (pronounced /ˈɑrkɪtaɪp/) is an original model of a person, ideal example, or a prototype upon which others are copied, patterned, or emulated.

Ahhhh......another doubter. Most of you guys only read the last page or whatever you could find on the web.

Trust me, the mystery is solved. I solved it. Go buy a copy of the magazine and read the entire article.
