Are you a Marathon man?

My third Marathon arrived in the mail today, so I decided to take a family portrait. From left to right are the Navigator with date, SAR Automatic, and the TSAR quartz. With the arrival of the Navigator today and the SAR automatic yesterday, I am thinking about selling the TSAR, as the Navigator has the same dial and the tritium tubes for when I need it.

Lets see some more of the Marthons owned on this forum.

I bet if you are handy with Photoshop, you could take a picture with and without the crown out and then paste the crown in shot on top of the crown out shot.

Ive had 2 CSAR's and 2 GSAR's.The weak part is the bezel insert IMHO. The CSAR IMHO is way over rated and overpriced.Overall the SARS are cool.

I like the Nav with date. I recently picked up a Gen purpose with date but it's too small for me. The Nav seems that crucial bit bigger.

I don't know about the Chrono (CSAR), but the regular SAR like I just bought seems well priced for what it is. Mine was less than a tenth of the price of my Rolex and probably half the price or less than other Swiss watches with that quality case or bracelet.

As for the CSAR, I think most 7750 based chronos are way overpriced.

As for the bezel insert, it looks to be plastic, not metal like some other watches. There was also some mention of a newer Bezel insert design at some point. You may have had the older design. It would be nice if there was a source for replacement inserts, so you could freshen up the appearance of your watch after a few years.

not a great pic... and i prefer the bracelet but i LOVE mine!!! guys who have seen this and Dans rave about wanting one. just do it! you wont be disappointed for the price. great watch and unless i run into Dan or Joji i never see one. i guess there are at least three in Kentucky. maybe one we dont know about.... where are you? ha ha

Has anybody checked the accuracy of the Automatic based Marathon's? Mine is running a bit fast. I am going to give it a week or so and see where it settles down to.

Mine ran a bit fast when I first got it. My watchmaker was able to regulate it to +2 sec per day.

I just set it to the time source. I 'll give it a few days, but I think it is running 15-20 seconds fast.

Even my quartz ones run a bit fast, but only a second or two a day.

it will settle down. give it a few weeks. no biggie if it doesnt its a simple adjustment that any watchmaker can do for very little money if any.

Most Marathon seemed to run fast.
Mine was about +15 sec a day.
Regulation will get it down to +/- 5 sec day.

So we know there are at least three of these in Kentucky and for sure there is at least one in Tennessee. We got a "Chamber of Commerce" beautiful day today here, but I think we're looking at the same storm front tomorrow that Dan's planning for on Saturday. Anyway, took a snap of mine out in the springtime

Last night I fitted a Hirsch Mobile curved end strap to the Marathon and it looks great. It is a 100m waterproof strap with a special spring bar position that gives you a choice of eight settings, so you can fit the curved end tightly against the watch case.

The Sailing season is starting up again here and I have the first Wednesday night race tomorrow. It made me realize I forgot a watch in the Marathon Family portrait at the head of this thread.

Here is my Marathon Adanac Navigator II. I use it for the race start/countdown timing.

I was watching a documentary on the CBC last night and what did I seen when either the RCMP officer or the Coroner office employee picked up a piece of evidence, but the distinctive Marathon Maple Leaf clasp on their watch. It was a pretty close shot and you couldn't mistake it.

It is nice to see that these watches are actually used/worn by the people they were designed for.
