HAHA, yeah I hear you. No kids for me yet, though i am sure that one will be in the not so distant futire. That being said a $40K plus Rose Gold ROO is probably out of the question

I understand what you guys mean, but APs can be had at very good prices, don't bother with ADs unless you are buying a limited edition.

They retail in Europe for 16,100 euro, they can easily be found in the UK for 9,600 euro.

Why not try and pick up 1 pre-owned?

Here in the US many ROO's can be had for 10-20% off as well.

My Brother went from Pannie to AP ROO too.
Me love AP ROO too, but chrono is not my thing. So, for near time I think I never consider one of this model. Maybe a couple years from now. Who's knows? Never say never.

Hi guys,

FYI - I actually went with the White/silver dialed Rubber clad ROO (fancy that ), it simply complemented my other Rolex and was just awesome when strapping on for the 1st time.

I'm in the dog house with the wife but nothing that time won’t heal so "worth a few days of getting the cold shoulder IMO.

Although not a real fan I can understand the Pani allure some have fallen too and continue to think Rolex are fantastic but it must be said that AP RO and ROO are just a little more fantastic.

I really like the ROOs but not many people carry them and I am not willing to pay the prices on the secondary market for the limited editions. I will add one to my collection at some point when I find the right one at a dealer. Until then I will stick with the upper end PAMs.

I love the look of the case and most of the Ap designs. I somehow don't like the cut off numbers as seen on IWC watches, where the numbers look like they were chopped off by sub-dials.

Photo's coming soon folks, as I owe someone a comparison of wrist shots of AP and Rolex.

BTW - The wife has stopped talking to me for nearly a week now

well, since I started this thread some things changed ...
more or less 2-3 years ago I sold my last ROO

Needed the money for something else ...

It took me some time to realize that needed a new one :-) The ROO is imo the ultime sportswatch so I started saving again and bought the ROO wich I always liked the most.
The 01-type (blue dial, more elegant numbers on the dial, and gey subdials)

and with it's sporty Kevlar strap

So, do most people buy ROO or RO? I having a difficult deciding if I want that big of a watch! Have you always had a big watch or did it take a little while to get use to?

nowadays I think the ROO is their bestseller, from 1993 till 2000 it was probably the RO.
On the other hand, the RO chronograph with white dial in an amazing beautifull watch. Never had one but it is high on my wishlist ;-)

It started with a Panerai , you're fast used to bigger watches ;-) Today all my watches are between 40 and 47 mm.

Stunning photography. Now I saw the AP up close I must say I'm starting to like it. I've taken a look at the other pictures and the Safari is even better i.m.o.

maybe I should add these too because some people still don't know the purpose of the screws in the bezel
(how can you unscrew those screws ??)

You can't, it's on the back you need to unscrew them

The dials are quite simply beautiful, but to be honest, I'm not sure on the bezel.

Need to get one on my wrist again

Duh?
The hexagonal screws have a very long thread that go all the way through the bezel, gasket and case. What you unscrew are actually the nuts that are on the back of the case. They look like little pipes with a fine thread inside.

By the way, here's mine. Enjoy!!!

I love that watch royal oak offshore in steel.I'm saving money for that.I just want to clarify what's the difference of the offshore compared to the royal oak chrono steel?Aside from the size and date location,is the rest thesame? some saY it's same. some say the movement are different and the clasp and bracelet are different. I'm confused. I'm comparing the ro chrono in steel and the roo in steel...
