Love my 216570 polar! In terms of pure functionality and beauty, it's one of the best modern Rolexes there is. I love that in a 42mm case, the indices don't have that "maxi" look and are more reminiscent of the 5-digit era. Likewise, the lugs taper nicely into the bracelet, no blocky-ness as with other models with maxi cases. Only minor, minor gripe is why no Triplock if GMT-Master has it? Other than that, ExpII has everything going for it. I can only think of two reasons ExpII doesn't have the popularity of other models. 1 - doesn't have quite the same story or "legacy" as other models like the Sub or GMT. Yeah, ExpI has the Everest backstory, but without a Bond connection, prominent movie placement, or Federer wearing it at Wimbledon, it hasn't had the same cache. 2 - it's on a totally different upgrade cycle from other models. It hasn't been revamped since 2011, meanwhile since then we've gone through years of drooling over ceramic Daytonas, Pepsi bezels, Batman bezels on Oyster vs Jubilee etc. In a way the ExpII is a victim of its own success - it's such a perfect true tool watch that no one is interested to see it in PM, or on a Jubilee bracelet or with PCLs (though it wouldn't surprise me if Rolex did this, after the TT Sea-Dweller, anything is possible). Anyway, keeping flying under the radar, ExpII, we need you.

Just received mine last month back from Rolex for a complete service. This is my 3rd service since I purchased new from my AD in January of 1999. This is my first Rolex watch, wore it every day for the first 10 years (although I did wear my SS Daytona’s on the weekends). I have many other watches and this one by far is my favorite all time comfortable watch that can be worn for all occasions. Also, by far my most accurate watch. Interesting side note, my first service at Rolex was in 2007, just looked at the receipt and compared to what I just paid for the same service some 13 years later, and it’s $600 more. Crazy how much Rolex now charges to service our Rolex’s.

I have a white face 40mm and love it; looking for a black 42 and have no idea why they aren't more popular? I can do without a Batman or a Pepsi as I do believe they are not as cool :-)

Icon6 First Rolex... 16570 Cal 3186 box papers

I have joined the club after years of Omega buying and flipping (I still have two). It is my first Rolex and my one watch the rule them all. 16570 Cal. 3186 full set and in 2.5 days it has gained one second. Incredible.

Worth the journey to get here.

Pics taken before the bracelet was given a bath.

I absolutely adore my 16570 but that cheapo clasp has gotta go; it's driving me crazy especially since I rotate with my SubC-ND which has a very very hearty clasp.

I think the newer 216570 has a thicker clasp though.

I don't mind the lighter bracelet; in fact the light weight is good. But due to availability, I'm in the process of changing out this bracelet and clasp with the 97200 bracelet clasp (w/Glidelock) of another Sub. PITA to find one in decent condition.

I'll post pics when I'm done as I'm expecting both clasp and bracelet to be shipped this week.

Ouch. They run in the $3000 + range on the used market. Holy flipping sniekies, you are a serious chap.

I would do the same were the bracelet a reasonable price.

I found a cheap used 97200 bracelet with a damaged clasp and slight bend on one of the links (not a big deal; just a little stiff). Just got it and put it on my X2 with the regular clasp. I ordered a 97200 glidelock clasp from Etsy ($100) and the vendor swears it's a Rolex; pics do look like it. I'll find out when it comes in this week. Will post pics.

So far, having the 97200 bracelet (even with the old clasp) on my 16570 feels solid and doesn't clink as much with the lighter bracelet. I like the heft and feel and now it feels like my SubC. I'm 75% happy.

I also had trouble finding the 97200 bracelet and ended up with a Ginault bracelet. It’s quite good, might be another alternative if you’re ok with a non-Rolex part.

Interesting. Does the Ginault bracelet have the same solid heft as the 97200?

As I'm wearing the X2 16570 now with the 97200 bracelet; it has a heft and solidness that I really like; definitely an upgrade to the standard bracelet which I think Rolex addressed with the newer model, 216570.

Thx for the info.

Lug holes make it easy to change out the bracelet but it sort of affects the way the watch looks.

No lug holes give the watch smoother lines but a PITA to change out the bracelet.

If you're not going to change out the bracelet, then the lug holes shouldn't be a problem.

Me, I didn't like the way the holes looked.
