Not discontinued but there's always speculation.
It's been produced since August 2014.

Not discontinued, many current owners hope it will be
Doubt it will be any time soon. Hot watch, easy to sell, why should Rolex ?
Nobody knows how many were made

I saw the Rolex rep at my AD's recently. I asked about the DSSD JC and he said they were "in deep" with James and didn't think the reference would be discontinued any time soon. FWIW....

It's scarce at the AD BTW.

Not as far as I know. But I wouldn't mind it - I bought one last week at MSRP without taxes on top from my AD.

I think it will probably go in this low supply climate. Rolex have to make the other models first, or at least some of them. Think 2018 will be a famine designed to control the grey market.

Interesting comment about controlling the grey market. But don't Rolex "feed" it by cutting supply? Seems to me they do.

I think it would be a crying shame if it were to be discontinued especially for those who are itching to get hold of one at RRP and have been on a list in the hope of achieving it.

No...by cutting supply they're forcing customers to pay premiums at the grey market.

Or, if they don't want to do that, then they'll be delighted to pay MSRP if and when a watch ever does show up.

It would seem that the Deep Blue is not selling at a premium though. Plenty on sale here at below retail and no interest. I am unbiased BTW as I own one.

Not the story certainly in the UK.

Initially yes, but then eventually they run out of stock too, esp directly from ADs who have been given stern directives. A price rise would make sense too but Rolex seem very reluctant to do so. Maybe both will be used next year.

Yes, far above retail and a big net margin built in as greys are not paying much above retail for them either, which also suggests they doubt its longevity.

I believe you're right, by cutting stock Rolex will force up the prices of the grey market dealers discouraging the majority of people to buy that model at such ridiculous prices.

At the same time Rolex can promote other less popular models to be sold as people will have an itch to buy a new watch and they'll have to satisfy that itch somehow.

I can see a rise in the Cellini line soon. The way things are going a SS model might be on the horizon.
