Rollies first swim!
I was cleaning the pool this afternoon (I'm having a bbq/pool party tomorrow) and decided it's time to test the Rollie out in the water. I grabbed it off my dresser, slapped it on the wrist, and dove in! I swam around with my son for around 30 minutes without any problems at all. It's a little nerve-racking throwing it in the water for the first time, but it's gotta be done. Anyone else nervous the first time you took your Rolex for a swim?

Yes, I wasn't, but the Rolex was. This was a few years ago and I was wearing one of my Subs. Smashed it against the pool dividing lanes and scratched the bracelet pretty bad. Swore never to wear any watch again whilst swimming!!

I know the feeling, Jeff. First time I wore it down to the beach and went swimming in the ocean with the GMT. I made sure to check the depth rating on it first. When I found it was good to 100 m, I figured diving down 6 ft to the sand bottom wasn't going to hurt it. And I was right. She came through like a trooper.
But then I bought my Omega X-33, which has an alarm that will wake the dead. At least it's loud enough to be heard over the sound of the surf. Now that's my watch of choice when I hit the beach. The GMT stays up in the apartment, to be strapped on again once I am out of the shower.

If you can't trust a Rolex Oyster, rated to at least 100m and proven time and time again to be completely waterPROOF, to go swimming in a pool, what CAN you trust?!?

I wear my GMT in the ocean and surfing all the time Aside from a little wax in the bracelet links, no worries

I gotta admit I've never given it a second thought. The only thing I've done is rinse it off after being in the ocean.

My wife's been gone since yesterday and called this afternoon. I told her I took the watch for a swim and she almost had a heart attack. I explained to her the watch is under warranty, so this is the best time to test it out. After that she was ok. It's funny... when you spend this much money you become afraid to use it for what it was designed. NOT ME!!!

Interesting that your wife was stressed out that you might have damaged your watch (possibly occasioning an expenditure that may have wiped out her chances of that new handbag or dress, or just been a waste of money because you didn't think and consult her before going in the water) but when you told her it was under warranty she was cool....
I like your wife's style, she knows were its at |
