Budget ‘Beater’ Watch

I was reading another thread on here where the OP had put away all his Rolex and had bought a G-Shock due to having a social conscience..

So on a lighter note, what is everyone wearing as a budget ‘beater’, or gardening watch? Let’s say up to a value of $150.00/£120.00

I’ll start... Casio Edifice, £74.00

Sorry, just saw the up to a value of $150.00/£120.00. I don't have a beater like that.

I don't own a <$150 watch. Used to have a Garmin running watch but it crapped out on me. Been rotating my Rolex SD43 and Omega Co-Axial Moonphase since this all started. Gardening or yardwork - guess I'll go bare

My Sub 14060 is my daily "beater" (and one helluva "beater" it is!) as I don't have a cheap watch in that price range...but maybe I should get one!

While I respect that everyone has the right to their own view and opinions, I do think that anyone with a "social conscience" about wearing a Rolex now should never have bought one in the first place. Yes, I read that post too! I worked bloody hard to buy my Sub new in 1996, and nobody is going to make me think about not wearing it in these times. Anyway, it´s pretty much an "under-the-radar" watch imho...!

These are my 2 beaters

The seiko skx007 has for at least 10 years +
The Casio maybe 4/5 years. Cost me £19

I get as much enjoyment wearing the Casio as I do my DRSD. On holiday I get a kick messing about with the functions - alarm to wake up, setting the timer for the girls time in sun, etc

Some nice replies. I really like the look of those Seiko divers. Also that Timex has a nice, retro vibe.

My current beater is a Tag, but since a few weeks ago I had been googling "Casio mudmaster". Previous beater was a Seiko SKX007, ok watch but not a fan. Never had a Casio but I read about this all the time so I'm curious.

My beater is a 20.- Casio digital watch. I like it because as a child I had one and was always playing with the backlight (still do today) !

My super beater. I fix cars and weld all the time with this watch. Theres some splatter on the case. Been my work watch for 6+ years. Only changed the crystal once. Though I probably will do again soon.

I’d rather go Apple Watch and then rock the high end when appropriate

Budget beater watch? My beater for 20 years, an IWC Mark XV, cost less EUR 200 per annum including repairs despite having had a rough life. Its case got replaced after a climbing accident and the bracelet tore apart when I broke an arm. Still going strong though, both of us, and it remains my favorite watch despite the high-end stuff that arrived later.

I'd say this Sinn EZM3F and my MKII paradive are my current beater watches but I don't really beat on my watches in general; I use my watches a lot but I like to look after them too. I picked up this Sinn in a trade with a buddy of mine recently - he really wanted one of my watches and made me an offer i couldn't refuse.

I am however looking at getting a Scurfa watch for use when I can start going on dive trips again. I have previously used a Seiko Tuna but i always found the bezel a pain-in-the -axx to operate - the shroud often got in the way and the bezel action is pretty average.

Ordered this lil guy last night as something to goof around with. One of the few places with stock at MSRP.

I don’t beat on my watches, but I wear my North Flag as my sports and yardwork watch. What’s the point of having a durable watch made for activity if you don’t use it as intended?

Thanks... they're both great watches. I was very impressed with the MKii; I find most microbrands are usually a bit hit and miss but the Paradive feels great.

Some nice alternative watches there.

I have a lumi nox that's ancient and a Marathon navigator and a Seiko P watch that I have used over the years as an alternative to my normal daily.

Tudor Submariner for daily wear as a United Methodist pastor. As soon as I walk in the house or head out in the yard, it's a Casio Illuminator til lights out.

Agree

I use my Datejust and cheaper watches almost with everything I do.

My cheapest watch is a Timex expedition chrono.

And maaaaaan

It’s a lot of watch for $70 or whatever it retails for. I bought it on a sale at target for $25 I think?

Has a functional chronograph, with a jumping hour hand for traveling! And a light for when it’s dark out.

I mostly use that one for running.
