Anyone had Jefferson’s ocean 23? A buddy of mine told me about it and ABC saved me a bottle.

Have not had 23. Have had a few of the others, and in general I find it a very smooth bourbon, low viscosity, subtle aromas, short-medium finish, and with relatively subtle flavor, probably in part due to it being a lower proof. I can sometimes convince myself it has a bit of a salty note, but if I’ve eaten anything recently then definitely can’t tell as the flavor isn’t strong enough. It’s a good bourbon if not a bit overpriced, but you get a cool story with it. I feel like their cask strength voyages might be more interesting.

A couple of buddies gifted this to me for retirement.
Do I need a special occasion to crack it open? Or is cracking it open the special occasion?

Duece I wish you a happy retirement and would recommend that you crack open that bottle immediately and have a nice dram. Take the time to reflect back on your life and enjoy. You can finish it with friends at another time if you have any deserving. While you are quaffing have a glance at Wikipedia and check out the Battle of Glenlivet to add to the history and mystique

One week until the deliciousness happens.

Inspired by a cocktail I had last weekend.

Any word on whether this also will affect Stagg Jr? I loaded up on batch 14 so I have reserves to get me through the winter. And by loaded up I mean I bought one backup bottle, which is all I could find lol.

Very sad day indeed. I heard they are leaving the juice in the barrels and will continue to monitor its development. I wonder what will ultimately become of it and how the extra age will affect its profile.

On a much better note, your collection of whiskey and cigars is absolutely incredible. Cheers!

Can you post some more pics of your bar? I really like your glass counter top with storage/display underneath. I would love to see your bourbon collection!

Nothing special.

It is just a cabinet and cigar humidor coffee table in my office.

No, haven't cracked it open yet. Figured it's only proper to wait until my gifters are around so they can have a dram.
Yes, Sherry casks for the 25 year. Not sure about the 21 year, oak?
My tastes are nowhere near as developed as most aficionados, but my preferred taste is the 15 year among the 12, 15, 18 collection. It will be interesting to see where this will fit in.

Thanks for the 'Battle of Glenlivet' read. Ironically, I read it on the anniversary of the battle.
