Any advice would be great.
Wonderful photos. As a first vintage (assuming you want to keep it dive oriented) I'd go for 5513(matt dial) or a white 1680. Both can be had in excellent condition with a bit of research.

Take your time and research the reference you choose. A nice vintage piece is like capturing a bit of history.

Vintage Subs

Mike,

thank you very much.

I love the simplicity of a sub without a date, and as little writing as possible on the dial.

In my long lasting affair with watches, interests come and go, but subs are like a seperate cult.

There is a fantastic submariner reference book for sale at 400 euros. A little steep for me. Are there other good reference sources to familiarize myself with the model?

Thanks

Wife has one, so I thought I'd get one as well last week

Played around with my Nikon D3 camera and took this picture today. Not very good at balancing the light without bad reflections yet, so I under exposed the picture.

Saw this at AD when I got my Sub LV last week. AD is right next to one of my favorite restaurants. So today after lunch I gave in to temptation and got it.

It is HUGE on my scrawny wrist.

I got this 2 weeks ago and added the jubilee bracelet. It has gained 8 seconds in those 2 weeks.

Just to show relative size of the Deep Sea I put it next to my two other SD. My first SD 1665 #622XXXX was also my first Rolex bought new about 30 years ago, still in very nice condition.
