I recently inherited my pops Date. I took it to a jeweler in the Atlanta Gift Mart who said they specialized In Rolexes and they told me a couple of things that are different than I have seen on this board. They told me that because it has a plastic crystal and has open pin openings on the case that it is from the early 80's. They told me that the difference between a Date and a Datejust was that the Datejust was easier to set. Anyway here's what I have, I would sure appreciate any help in determining the age:

Perpetual Date
Steel case with Gold Fluted Bezel
Plastic Crystal
Two tone Jubile Band
Gold face with angled squares instead of sticks

The Date is 34mm and the DateJust is 36mm.
If it has a plastic crystal then it would most likely be 1970's to early 1980's.
Take off the bracelet and see on the sides of the watchcase. That will give you a more accurate indication of 1. the model number; and 2. the serial number.

If you look in the reference section there's a posting with a table of dates vs serial numbers. Looks like yours would date from about 1983.
